Apex Legends has confirmed that a new legend is coming this season in addition to Octane.
Or should we say, Sony has quietly confirmed that a new legend is still incoming.
Season 1 launched on March 19th with a great new theme, a great new patch, and a great new Legend in the form of Octane, the high-speed thrillseeker. There was also a Battle Pass launched that could potentially net you tons of rewards provided you spent every waking moment playing Apex Legends for the rest of the season.
But just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, it does. Probably.
According to a new report that sources a Sony marketing page, of all things, we’re going to get another brand new Legend before the season is out.
"Two new characters will launch over the course of the season but in the meantime, look out for a new weapon set to launch as the season progresses. Best of all, each new Legend and weapon will launch with a full set of cosmetics to unlock."
There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s start with the new characters. We already got one of them in the form of Octane, and the other is widely rumored to be Wattson, the female electrical engineer with a ton of electricity based abilities. Previous leaks point at Wattson and data miners have already reported files named "Wattson" in the latest patch, so we’re pretty confident in calling this new character Wattson.
The new weapon is likely to be something called the L-Star, an energy-based submachine gun with an insane fire rate and even more ludicrous DPS. The L-Star first made its debut in Titanfall 2, and data miners (via Gaming INTEL) have once again located files confirming the existence of this gun.
There should also be some new items and maybe even a new game mode set to drop before the end of the season if rumors are to be believed. Take everything with a grain of salt, of course, but we’ll be sure to confirm things as soon as Respawn opens their mouth.
