It’s been over six months since EA first announced a Switch version of Apex Legends would be coming. That news first came at EA Play last June, and since then we’ve been waiting patiently to get our battle royale on Nintendo’s handheld console.

And now it looks like our wait will soon be over. Not only did the Japanese version of the latest “Stories from the Outlands” video reveal a February 2 Switch release date, but now Japan’s Amazon storefront is doing the same thing by opening the pre-orders page a week early.

You can now pre-order your copy of Apex Legends for the Nintendo Switch in Japan for the low price of ¥5,641 (or roughly $55 USD). We’re sure that the regular US price will be between $50 and $60 when it finally goes on sale State-side, but the point here isn’t the price, it’s the date.

February 2 is coincidentally the same date that was shown in the video description for “Stories from the Outlands - Good as Gold,” which was our introduction to Apex Legends latest competitor: Fuse. He’s an Aussie-accented demolitions expert from the planet Salvo who will undoubtedly come with an explosive arsenal of abilities, and at least one centered around an EMP grenade.

On top of that, Kings Canyon is getting an explosive makeover that may or may not include a limited-time 3v3 game mode. Datamines reveal the new Kings Canyon has been sectioned off into several smaller arenas where players can go murder in a much smaller scale than the usual battle royale mode, although there will still be a shrinking circle to contend with.

Along with the 30-30 lever-action rifle and the possibility that Maggie might show up in future seasons to torment Fuse for leaving Salvo, Season 8 is looking to be an exciting development for Apex Legends. Especially now that I can enjoy it splayed out on the couch rather than hunched up at the computer.
