As a general rune, PC games typically have more cheaters than consoles. That’s just because it’s easier to get a hack working on PC where the software and the game are on the same machine, whereas getting a hack to work on a console requires defeating the console’s own anti-tamper mechanism before defeating the game’s. That extra step is usually enough discouragement to keep hackers away from console games. But not always. Apex Legends has seen an influx in hackers in console lobbies, and it’s unclear whether that’s just due to a bug or another hack.Related: ALGS Pros Explain Their Off-Meta Picks Part 2For an example, check out this latest video from FNATIC player Revengeful. Playing Predator on King’s Canyon, Revengeful and his squad come across a hacker that’s not even trying to hide the fact that they’re cheating. Revengeful is taken down immediately with multiple headshots, discovering that player “[Joba] SlxghtR Owns You <3” isn’t just hacking, but also somehow got into a console lobby despite playing on PC.

It becomes abundantly clear after ghosting the player for a minute that they’re using an aimbot. This gives the hacker the uncanny ability to hit other players from extreme distances by firing a stream of bullets directly and heads without any regard for recoil. They don’t even need to aim down the sights--just firing from the hip in a player’s general direction will cause every bullet to magically zero in on that player’s head.

According to PC Gamer, the hacker was banned shortly after this clip was taken, but there’s another issue here. Several players have reported PC players getting into console lobbies, something that shouldn’t be possible. When Respawn Entertainment enabled crossplay on Apex Legends, it still kept the PC and console cues separate to avoid one side getting an unfair advantage over the other due to their different input methods. PC players getting into console lobbies should be impossible, and yet this hacker somehow found a way.

Hopefully, Respawn will get this latest issue solved before the arrival of Newcastle and Season 13 tomorrow.
