No, this isn’t a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover event, but it’s close. The Dark Depths Event will give Apex Legends a certain nautical flare as several Legends get bright new costumes that celebrate the sea, and there’s a brand new Arenas map too.

Habitat 4 is the new arena map, If you’re noting a certain resemblance to Storm Point, the latest battle royale map to hit Apex Legends, that’s because both Habitat and Storm Point are located in the New Antillia archipelago. Habitat 4 is a much smaller island than Storm Point, but there’s plenty of space to shiver someone’s timbers.

Much of Habitat 4 is dominated by creeks and rivers that flow from a large waterfall, producing terrain with lots of varied elevation. Key points of interest include the Cave, which is built for close-to-mid-range combat and has plenty of waterslides for quick escapes, and the Nest, which is full of leviathan eggs that break up sightlines and make for perfect cover to flank unwary opponents.

"Habitat 4 was inspired by Leviathans and how it would feel to fight in their breeding grounds,” writes Respawn. “It represents our vision of an arena established in a natural environment, while holding true to the tentpoles of arena design."
