Step one: Pick Wraith every game.

Step two: Leave the game if you don't get Wraith.

Step three: You've done it congratulations!

If only. Achieving the rank of Apex Predator is not an easy task in Apex Legends – Respawn's battle royale is both intricate and unforgiving. If it wasn't already incredibly difficult when the playlist first came out, it certainly is now that the coveted Predator rank only holds the top 500 players per platform.

First of all, ensure you understand the basic scoring structure within ranked; it's all a numbers game at the end of the day. Once you're confident with the basics, there are some simple generalities that can help quite a bit. You have to have a strong foundation to begin your journey to the top, so keep these ideas in your mind at all times when you queue.

  1. Establish your squad of 3. Consistency is key, and the more you play with the same minds, the better you'll perform as a cohesive force of destruction.
  2. Make the time. Getting good at shooting is always a big element, sure, but at the end of the day all Apex Predators are putting in long hours.
  3. Help one another with multipliers. You can have the maximum multiplier with 0 kills and 5 assists. If your squad is outclassing a team control the fight, intentionally set up assists, and each teammate can walk away with a 15x multiplier off of 1 squad alone. Efficiency is key!
  4. Avoid getting caught off-guard by 3rd parties. If you commit to a full fight, end it quickly or run quickly. Assume someone is stalking your fight at all times.
  5. Resist the urge to throw the game if you are the last one alive. It can be boring having to hide and wait, but remember, you're saving time in the long-run by gaining RP while mitigating potential loses. Try to stay alive as long as possible in every single game, no matter what!

Of course, these factors aren't always going to reign true. Most of this advice comes from my personal experience making it to Predator (PC) in past seasons, though I'm hardly one of the best. These tips simply help me frame things neatly when grinding!

Apex Legends Predator Guide

But don't take my word for it, the Apex community is actually quite open. For example, one of the top ranked players from the Xbox scene shared a massive guide on Reddit about how to make it to the top. I highly recommending combing through the guide and absorbing as much as possible. Oh, and definitely watch Aceu's movement guide.

Lastly, and most importantly, get interested in the competitive scene. Follow the best players on Twitter, watch the Apex Legends Global Series online tournaments, and check out streamers that you want to emulate. You'll learn more subconsciously by watching great players than you ever will from overthinking!
