Bloodhound Gets A Heirloom In New Apex Legends Trailer

The Apex Legends Iron Crown event is upon us and the new trailer seems to be hinting at a new heirloom, which we can see Bloodhound using.

The Apex Legends Iron Crown event is upon us and the new trailer has brought some mystery to the occasion. At the end, we see Bloodhound appear with an incredible looking axe in their hand that we’ve not seen before. Could this be a new heirloom?

Heirlooms are incredibly rare due to the fact that they cannot be crafted and are thus the rarest possible drop in the entire game. There is a less than a 1% chance to acquire them from Apex Packs, although Respawn guarantees that you can expect to see at least one heirloom if you open a whopping 500 of them.

Currently, there is only one heirloom set in the game: Wraith’s knife. However, this trailer seems to imply that this is about to change.

While it isn’t specified that the item is an heirloom, it seems pretty likely. The axe appears to be brand-new and has an eagle-like carving and red highlights. It appears a few times in the trailer, which shows Bloodhound taking a leap with the axe in their hand.

The extended trailer also gives us a more in-depth look at the rest of the event, including the new skins. There appear to be seven legendary skins in total; one for Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage, Pathfinder, Wattson, and Wraith. We can also see gameplay from the new Solo and Town Takeover modes.

In a post on Reddit, Community Manager Jay Frenchette, who goes by JayFresh, spoke about the new limited-time solo mode. “On 8/13 we'll be trying out a Solos Mode in Apex for a limited time,” he said. “We'll talk more about Solos when it's live and you've had a chance to play it. For now, we're going to put it out there and see what happens and what kind of feedback we get.”

There is also another new mode called Town Takeover, which appears to involve Octane setting up some kind of adrenaline-fuelled assault course near Thunderdome, which includes ramps, flags, jump pads, and a ring of fire.

The Apex Legends Iron Crown event runs from 10 am PT /1 pm ET August 13 until August 27.
