When people first hear about Apex Legends, they most likely assume it's a game about characters shooting guns, and though that isn't an incorrect assumption, Respawn Entertainment has crafted a gameplay experience with a lot more depth than that. A primary example of that depth is the healer legend Lifeline.

She's capable with a gun, but her primary role is helping her teammates heal while being able to keep herself alive at the same time. Let's look at 10 things you might not have known about Lifeline.

10 Faster Revives

When you spend a majority of your life committed to helping those in need, you're bound to pick up a few tricks of the trade along the way. Along with being a superb healer, Lifeline can revive fallen teammates faster than any other character in Apex Legends.

She can bring someone back in 4 seconds, which is a full second faster than anyone else. At first glance, a second may not sound like a huge difference, but in the heat of battle, it could mean the difference between winning or losing a gunfight with another squad.

9 Real Name

Though her codename is Lifeline, the healer supreme's real name is Ajay Che. Though she was born a long way from Earth, it's great to see she has a name that's still reflective of her African roots.

Representation in entertainment isn't only about the color of the skin or the facial design of a character. Fully fleshing them out as three-dimensional people with a cultural and societal depth that adds to inclusiveness separates those who attempt it and those who commit to it as a development philosophy.

8 Parents

It may sound cliché on the surface, but Lifeline growing up as the child of wealthy war profiteers helped her shape what she wanted to do with her life. As she grew up and began to understand that her family's wealth came at a price, she quickly came to resent them and everything they stood for.

If it wasn't for them being so callous, who knows if she would have committed herself to help those who were less fortunate? In a way, players should be thankful for her parents showing her right from wrong in the worst of ways.

7 Legend Type

Apex Legends divides its characters into types that allow players to understand at a glance what type of play style that character requires. Lifeline is a healer, so right off the bat players understand that if they choose her they play a vital part in helping their team survive.

She can do this by healing them with her abilities and allowing the team to retain their healing supplies, as well as giving them items via her Care Package ultimate. If you're skilled with a firearm you'll be the bringer of both life and death.

6 Heals Faster

We've already covered the fact that she can revive players faster than any other character, but her abilities don't only benefit everyone around her. Lifeline has the bonus that she can restore health and shields at 75% of the time it takes everyone else to.

This can turn the tide in battle, and if you're smart about refreshing your shields, with Lifeline's quickness doing so you can create a great advantage for yourself. What good is a healer if they can't take care of themselves from time to time?

5 Snarky Personality

Lifeline is very much an empathetic soul who wants to help those in need and make a real difference in the world, but that doesn't mean she's a pushover. She is very sarcastic and callous which directly goes against the assumptions one makes about people who are as helpful as she is.

People are more complicated than simple black and white assumptions and the human mind is much more complex than a set of binary personality traits. Lifeline isn't complicated, she's simply human.

4 The Voice

Mela Lee might not be a voice actress you're immediately familiar with based purely on her name, but that doesn't mean you haven't heard her before. In addition to voicing everyone's favorite Apex Legends medic, Mela Lee recently took on the role of Jade in NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat 11.

She's also known for doing the role of Tiki whenever a new Fire Emblem game is released in the West. Like many of the voices in Apex Legends, Mela Lee brings out Lifeline's personality and helped in making her an immediate fan favorite.

3 Friendship With Octane

If you're familiar with the characters in Apex Legends, then you are familiar with the adrenaline junkie known as Octane. He's an energetic guy who happens to sport a pair of bionic legs due to him blowing them off with a grenade in the pursuit of a race track record.

Well, luckily for him he had a friend who happened to be a medic that helped him get the clearance to get the new legs installed. Lifeline not only played a pivotal role in giving Octane a new lease on life, but she also help him to get replacement legs and further push his recklessness.

2 Career

Upon learning about her parent's war profiteering, Lifeline decided to commit herself to help those in need by enlisting in the Frontier Corps. They're essentially the Peace Corps of the Apex Legends/Titanfall universe and are an organization focused on aiding Frontier communities who are in desperate need of help.

It takes a special type of person to commit their own lives to help those who don't have the same privileges or opportunities. That's why Lifeline is a real hero in every sense of the word.

1 Why She Competes

When you read about Lifeline's personal story and journey from the daughter of war profiteers to being a world-class healer and contributing member of the Frontier Corps, you scratch your head as to why she's in the Apex Games.

Well, it turns out she uses her winnings to fund the Frontier Corps, in hopes of allowing the organization to spread even further and allow it to help even more Frontier communities. It makes sense that Lifeline is putting herself on the line in hopes of helping those who can't help themselves.
