Apex Legends fans are practically begging Respawn to add in more content. New characters, new guns, new modes, anything to help keep the game feeling fresh and exciting. And Respawn has finally responded….By adding in a jump pad.

Yes Respawn threw jump pads into the game recently. As you would expect something called a jump pad to do, jumping or even just stepping on it launches you into the air. This of course opens new possibilities for increased mobility and probably some pretty sick sniper kills in the future.

Many are taking this as a sign that the Octane leaks weren’t too far off the mark. His ultimate was rumored to be the ability to throw a jump pad down for the team to use. It’s possible that the early addition of these pads on the map is both a hint that Octane is coming, as well as a way for players to familiarize themselves with the jump pad for when he finally appears.

There have some pretty interesting reactions to the jump pad. Players have always managed to find unique ways to utilize the tools that Respawn have given them. It’s not rare to see someone using ziplines to maneuver around the map like a crazy parkour maniac, or using moves like Pathfinder’s Grappling Hook or Wraith’s Dimensional Rift to re-position themselves to take down a whole squad.

Players have already begun experimenting with it, seeing how it can best be used in order to become an airborne, acrobatic killing machine. Others, like Reddit user CatInPajamas, have noticed a similarity between the jump pad and a certain childhood sandbox.

The resemblance is uncanny.

Although it’s cool to have a new toy to play with in Apex, there’s still no official word on when the Battle Pass or Octane himself are set to launch. Fans are getting frustrated wondering when they’re going to get some new content. Granted, Apex has only been out for a little over a month now, so expecting new content immediately may be a bit overzealous. However, if Respawn wants Apex to maintain its popularity, it might not be a bad idea to put that battle pass out sooner rather than later.

If you’re looking to use the pads to leap over buildings in a single bound, they can usually be found in the Marketplace area of the Kings Canyon region. Be prepared to see them thrown all about the map when/if Octane finally makes his long awaited debut.
