Apex Legends is now on Season 8 and that means quite a few changes to the game. You will see things like changes to ranked play, map adjustments, and some epic items in the new battle pass. It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what changes have been made, but there are some you should be made aware of for the next time you play.

The biggest changes have come to ranked play as they make adjustments due to the increasing volume of players coming to the game. It is an exciting time for Apex Legends as Season 8 begins and transforms its gameplay along with it!

10 There Is An Anniversary Collection

Apex Legends Anniversary Collection

Apex Legends is running an Anniversary Event this season in celebration of the game being out for two years. Players probably remember the Fight Night Event last season. This one will be similar, but only in that it's for the fans.

It runs from February 9 until February 23 and the prizes can be earned by dropping into the Locked and Loaded Takeover playlist option. The prizes bring back 24 classic fan-favorite items with a new design so make sure to play this season before they are gone.

9 RP Is now Easier To Earn In Ranked Play

Players often complained about how difficult it was to earn RP in ranked play. That's a gripe shared by players of many games like Apex or even games like League of Legends. But that all changed on February 2.

You will now earn RP earlier in the match as it is awarded at the placement of 13, rather than ten. They have also adjusted it for kills, as well, since it is now awarded for up to six kills and assists in a single match.

8 The Assist Threshold Has Been Increased

Late-game blossoms rejoice: your time in the sun is now. There are plenty of people who thought they should have been receiving assists for kills in the last minute but they never did. Fans will now be happy to know that has been remedied.

They have increased the assist time to ten seconds after you deal damage to an opponent. It is up about two and half seconds, and it's enough to add an assist or two to your final score.

7 The New Legend Is Named Fuse

The newest legend added to the Apex Legend's lineup is named Walter "Fuse" Fitzroy and he is already one of the best you can use. His tactical ability is an airburst grenade which causes a hectic distraction around players as it disrupts their aim as they try to shoot at you.

His passive ability is a grenade launcher that he can use to launch explosives great distances. Finally, his ultimate is a missile that explodes in mid-air and sends out a trail of flames that can cut off an enemy's escape. He's also basically The Comedian from Alan Moore's Watchmen.

6 The New Weapon Is The 30-30 Repeater

This season has also brought a new weapon to the stage called the 30-30 Repeater. The single-shot gun facet makes it a bit risky, but headshots deal 100 damage. That's worth the risk for most players who like that in-your-face action.

The weapon can be charged to make it even stronger, too. The downside (or perhaps a way to balance it) is that its reload time is abysmal. However, it is basically a better version of the G7-Scout so there is no reason you shouldn't try it out at least once.

5 Kings Canyon And Olympus Are The Only Maps In Ranked Play

The developers have decided to split which maps are used in Ranked Play, but there will only be two maps this season which is good to know before your first jump. They have decided to take out World's Edge from the rotation, although they do promise it will be back at a later date.

King's Canyon will be the Ranked Play map until March 23, at which point it will switch over to Olympus until the end of the season. Let's hope they don't pull a Bungie re: the Cosmodrome on us.

4 Apex Legends Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

Originally, fans thought that Apex Legends would be coming to the Nintendo Switch when the new season dropped, but this was false. It is actually being released on March 9, 2021, on the Nintendo Switch and it is hard for fans to contain their excitement.

It will have support for cross-platform play which is pretty exciting considering how closed-off this platform tends to be. These players will also be granted 30 free levels and double XP for the first few weeks after launch since it didn't release when the season started.

3 King's Canyon Has Been Reshaped

King's Canyon has started to undergo a transformation as the developers attempt to continue the story. The overall goal was to make the map even bigger, but also to lessen third partying.

It removed Skulltown but brought back Mirage Voyage as the developers do a bit of give-and-take. Slum Lakes has also been transformed into Spotted Lakes and you will just have to keep an eye out for future changes in the upcoming seasons.

2 The Battle Pass Has More Than 100 Items

Apex Legends Battle Pass Season 8

The newest Battle Pass has over 100 items, so you can enjoy some new skins like the ones in these Loba cosplays. When you buy it, you will automatically unlock the Legendary Flatline Chained Beast and new skins for Fuse, Loba, and Gibraltar.

There is so much to enjoy this season and you won't want to miss out on these rewards by choosing not to buy the battle pass. Of course, as always, the battle pass benefits fans of certain legends over others.

1 Season 8 Ends On May 3, 2021

Apex Legends Season 8

It might seem like you have a long time to play, but the season's end will be here before you know it. It will come to a close on May 3, 2021, and you can no longer earn rewards, like weapon skins from the previous battle pass.

However, it is something else to look forward to as you await a new legend and continue to see how the map will be adjusted. How far will you take your legends in season 8?
