As Apex Legends' Season 2 enters its final week, Respawn keeps dropping further hints about the upcoming Season 3 and new Legend Crypto, a computer hacker. The latest hint from the official Twitter account is a coded message between Crypto and his mom, which raises more questions than it answers.

Over the last couple of weeks, players have been working to piece together the clues Respawn has been giving them about Season 3, which we now know is titled Meltdown. The journey began with some curious in-game "glitches" including a blackout on the arena's banners.

Shortly after, Crypto began to briefly appear in the game's new labs area, before vanishing after players caught a glimpse of him.

As we approach the end of the month, Respawn upped the ante and showed us a "Stories from the Outlands" video, which was posted on September 19.

In this short animation, we discover a little more about Crypto's background. We learn that not only is he a hacker, but he also managed to find something very dangerous in a security protocol. It's a prediction algorithm that could be used to rig matches in King's Canyon.

While Mila, who we presume is his sister, wants to use the program to get a "fresh start," Crypto advises against it. Suddenly, we see that Mila has been kidnapped and killed, and Crypto has to erase and run away, as he appears to have been framed for the crime.

Crypto's video finishes with him saying that "they" have taken his friends, family, and identity from him and now he wants to play his own game.

This enticing video was followed by a cryptic message:

What appears at first glance to be a message about asking a girl out at a party, soon reveals a message about Crypto's plans.

In it, he states that he would never have made it through the qualifying matches, so he took down the repulsor tower, presumably as a distraction. While we know it didn't close King's Canyon, Crypto was evidently hoping it would. This next part is where it gets tricky. It appears that his plan was to hitch a ride off Solace and search "New Dawn" for "evidence."

The most popular theory is that Crypto is in King's Canyon searching for a way to get off-world. He appears to be hacking computers that are connected to the void portal that appeared during the Voidwalker event, so many players are assuming that he might soon discover a new map or even a new location.

Currently, we do not have answers. We don't know why Crypto was framed or by whom, we don't know where this "New Dawn" is, and we don't know what's coming next. However, as one Redditor pointed out, it appears that some answers may be revealed soon.
