An Apex Legends player has discovered an incredible life hack that will make the Hemlok assault rifle a fully-automatic machine gun.
Everyone is trying to get a competitive advantage in online shooters. For some this leads down the dark path of downloading game exploits and aimbots, which is sure to get them shunned by their peers and banned from Apex Legends’ servers (which has already banned 350,000 players so far).
However, this little exploit is totally legit. All you gotta do is change a key binding in the game’s settings.
By binding the fire key to your mouse wheel, you can turn any weapon into a fully-automatic bullet hose. And since Apex Legends allows any action to be bound to two keys, you can still maintain your left-click default shooting button while using this trick.
We have Reddit user mnkymnk to thank for this trick, as well as the handy-dandy video he posted to Reddit that showcases its effectiveness.
As you can see, the Hemlok goes from a semi-automatic rifle into a fully-automatic one, while the P2020 semi-auto pistol has a similar transformation.
And that’s not all! The same trick can be used for something like the jump key to turn you into a manic bunny rabbit the next time you get into a close-quarters firefight. Just start spinning your wheel and hopping like mad.
It should be noted that this trick doesn’t work great with all hardware. As noted by user Shertgun, this trick works best with mice equipped with a “hyper scroll” feature, or basically one that can spin freely. A Logitech G502 is provided as the best example of this.
More modern mice, such as the Corsair Ironclaw, Steelseries Rival 310, and even the Logitech G900, don’t have this feature. But even without a free-flowing mouse wheel, you can still get some pretty high rates of fire--and bouncy bunny hops--by binding your mouse wheel to the alternate key.
And of course, this only works for the PC version of Apex. Sorry, console players.
