Talking to MoonLiteWolf, Valkyrie's voice actor Erika Ishii revealed that her Apex Legends hero is, in fact, LGBTQ+, joining a rich roster of radiant queer characters. More specifically, she's a lesbian. This shines through in the game too, as eagle-eyed fans have spotted a voice line where she says, "I like my women like I like my sake."

Respawn's hit battle royale sports a wealth of LGBTQ+ characters with only the last Legend being the latest inclusion prior to Valkyrie. Fuse, for context, is pansexual. This was confirmed by Respawn's writer Sam Gill, but it doesn't stop there.

Bloodhound is non-binary, never actually being referred to by he or her as Respawn instead references them by exactly that - they and them. A lot of people assume Bloodhound is a guy right out of the gate but even if they weren't non-binary, it's important to note that they're voiced by Allegra Clark, a talented female voice actor known for her work on Dragon Age.

Then there's Loba who was confirmed to be bisexual by writer Tom Casiello and, like with Valkyrie, that's reaffirmed in a voice line. Then there's Gibraltar who was confirmed to be gay pretty early on in Apex Legends' run, with it cropping up in the comics from time to time.

"Respawn put out the energy that they wanted to get back," Ishii added, "They launched with such an incredibly diverse roster and by cultivating that kind of community and drawing a hard line saying, 'this is what we want in our community,' that's what you get."

"I kind of love that she owns her sexuality outright and isn't ashamed of it," Casiello fronted, "If you have a problem with the fact that we're launching with two black women, if you have a problem with the fact that we have a non-binary character, we don't want you playing our game. Goodbye."
