Arby's and Sega have partnered up to bring Sonic-themed kids' toys to the restaurant chain and also to promote mobile game, Sonic Dash.

Fast-food chains and video games aren't two worlds most would envision collide all that often. That's where you'd be wrong. The opposing industries often cross paths and when they do, it is almost always newsworthy. Earlier this year, Wendy's created an entire world in Super Mario Maker 2. 2019 was also the year a KFC-themed dating simulator was unleashed on the world. No, we're not joking.

Arby's also got in on the aforementioned Mario Maker fun and is now stepping back into the video game world. It is doing so by partnering up with Sega and bringing the video game giant's most famous export to its restaurants, Sonic the Hedgehog as revealed via a press release. It is doing so via a range of toys that will be available in Arby's kids' meals.

The disc toys will feature eight different characters from the Sonic video games, and you can check out a few of them above. "They’ve done a great job with the Game On Kids Meal to integrate content and encourage collectability," exclaimed SVP for SEGA of America Ivo Gerscovich. The SVP added that Sega loves to work with companies that get them, and Arby's certainly does.

The disc toys won't be the only way Sonic fans will be able to benefit from this fast food/video game partnership. For the duration of the promotion, players of the mobile game Sonic Dash will be able to cash-in and collect 50 red star rings courtesy of Arby's. They can be used to unlock new characters and items. All players need to do is download or update the app while the promotion is active.

Sonic Dash players and Arby's-goers will have plenty of time to get those rings and collect those toys too. The promotion starts on December 1, 2019, and runs all the way up until February 29, 2020. Yes, that does mean the toys and the offer will be available when Sonic the Hedgehog is released in theaters.
