Fiber is a renewable resource; this means that once harvested, it will eventually grow back. As an early game resource, you are not required to use any tool to gather fiber. First, let's take a look at where you can find fiber, as well as how to harvest it.

Fiber can be found in plants and foliage that grow directly on the ground. To harvest fiber by hand, all you need to do is walk up to a plant and press interact with it.

Doing so will harvest fiber, as well as any berries that are in the plant. Fiber and berries can be harvested from a single plant until it disappears.

Plants that yield fiber can be found pretty much everywhere. If your spawn location is near a beach, then there will be plenty of fiber-yielding plants for you to harvest.

Once you hit level 30, you will be able to craft a sickle. With a sickle, you can harvest fiber quicker. If you aren't level 30 yet, it's okay. Harvesting with your hands is still a good method for gathering fiber.

Fiber can also be gathered by several creatures. Below, you can find a list of every creature that is capable of gathering fiber, beginning with those that are the most efficient.

  • Gigantopithecus
  • Dire Bear
  • Gacha
  • Therizinosaur
  • Maewing
  • Megatherium
  • Mantis
  • Moschops

A Gigantopithecus is the best choice for gathering fiber. This creature will autonomously gather fiber, with no actions required by you. For this to happen, all you need to do is allow a Gigantopithecus to wander. Overall, try to tame a Gigantopithecus to do all of your fiber gatherings.
