Batman is one of the most celebrated, iconic, and intriguing comic book heroes of all time, and for good reason. The dark knight and his various incarnations encapsulate a sense of justice and even vengeance. Yet these different versions of Batman all have a uniqueness, showcasing new stories and personalities for the caped crusader.

RELATED: Best Batman: Arkham Knight Mods, Ranked

Rocksteady's version of the bat had an incredible journey, reaching an explosive conclusion with Batman: Arkham Knight. The game showcased the best visuals out of the entire series, not just with the breathtaking graphics and fantastic storytelling. Arkham Knight also has the biggest collection of skins for Batman out of all of the Arkham games, some stellar and unique, and others, not as much. We rank them all.

23 1939 First Appearance - The Original

Batman Arkham Knight 1st Appearance

The first appearance skin is a sentimental piece of history for die-hard Batman fans. The grey attire honors Batman's classic look, with the purple gloves, tiny bat emblem, and lengthy horns. It's a picture-perfect representation, however, in the context of the Arkham Knight game, it isn't exactly practical.

While the skin definitely is a collector's item, it doesn't exactly blend in well with the violent, gritty, and dark world of Gotham. Seeing Batman wallop thugs with his teched-out gadgets, an armored tank of a Batmobile, and this skin? It's a goofy sight.

22 Classic TV Series - Holy Nostalgia Batman!

Batman Arkham Knight 1960s

Any fan of the great Adam West and his take on Batman will absolutely love this skin. It's an extremely accurate depiction of the look, from the drawn-on eyebrows to the grey and blue color scheme, and even the silky smooth texture of the Bat emblem. However, just like the first appearance skin, it's a funny thing to see in the game.

The silver lining, however, is that this skin can be accompanied by 60s Robin, Catwoman, and Batmobile skins. It's great to see the entire set altogether, especially in the 60s race tracks.

21 Anime - Gotham's Knight

Batman Arkham Knight Anime

This skin is from the animated film Batman: Gotham Knight. The anthology film is divided into six parts, one of them containing this armored anime look. It is a smooth, metallic, and armor-plated skin, showcasing a unique look.

While the armored gauntlets, rounded cowl, and smooth torso is a cool look, the helmet is bulky and a bit awkward looking. Not a horrible look for the caped crusader, but not exactly groundbreaking either.

20 Zur En Arrh - Duality of (Bat)man

Batman Arkham Knight Zur En Arrh

Zur-En-Arrh Batman was created in 1958, however, he was completely altered by the legendary writer Grant Morrison. Zur-En-Arrh Batman became an unstable backup personality for Bruce, in the case that he was attacked psychologically. In turn, Bruce became a rougher, more psychotic Batman.

The skin is jagged and rough just like this Batman's persona, and the unique color scheme makes this look immediately stand out. It looks great in Arkham Knight during Batman's ongoing mental struggle, with adversaries like Joker and Scarecrow.

This skin is available as paid DLC

19 Iconic Grey and Black - Grayson's Best

Batman Arkham Knight Grey And Black

This iconic look represents Batman before DC's New 52 soft reboot, but it also represents Batman's heir and a former Batman: Dick Grayson, the first Robin. This skin represents a new era for the Batman, one where he was an evolving symbol of change.

The grey and black look great in the dark Gotham skies, however, the material feels too thin and tight. The thin, ornate utility belt contrasts well with the grey and black without being an eyesore, and the bat symbol looks like the perfect combo of rounded and jagged. It is, like the name indicates, an iconic look for Batman, no matter who is under the cowl.

18 The Dark Knight 2008 - No Hockey Pads Included

Batman Arkham Knight 2008

The 2008 skin is inspired by Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, where Batman was portrayed by Christian Bale. The skin is an extremely accurate rendition of Bale's all-black armor-plated look, as well as the maneuverable cowl from 2008's The Dark Knight. The armor looks great during combat, showcasing a more lean look for the Arkham Batman.

The armor plating, gauntlets, and utility belt all add to the tactical military style of the skin, looking great within the gritty Arkham Knight landscape. Perhaps the only issue is the neck, which looks a bit outstretched thanks to the cowl.

17 Dark Knight Returns - Living Legend

Batman Arkham Knight TDKR

The story of Arkham Knight could easily fit into the world of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, a grim universe where an older Batman makes his last stand against crime. It's a legendary story that has inspired multiple iterations of Batman, parts of its tale even inspiring Arkham Knight's take on the bat.

The skin is tight and close-fitting, just like the comic depiction of the look, making Bruce look more built and imposing. The grizzled grey and black colors work well in combat, and the larger, outstretched Bat symbol adds to the sense of might this Batman possesses.

16 Justice League 3000 - A Bruce With No Trauma

Batman Arkham Knight 3000

In the year 3000, a clone of Bruce Wayne takes over as the new Batman, however, he doesn't have the trauma of the real Batman. The resulting arrogant hero is a unique take on the vigilante, with a look that reflects his personality.

The reflective red texture of the skin immediately grabs the viewer's eye, while looking great in the game. The bright red metal Bat emblem also looks fantastic with the rest of the crimson armor, creating a gaudy and futuristic style for the usually dark and grim hero.

15 The 1970s - Neal Adams Special

Batman Arkham Knight 1970s

This skin captures the legendary look of Batman from the 1970s, a time where the dark knight had been returning to his grim, realistic, and original roots. The resulting skin is a sleek and colorful look for Batman that anyone can easily recognize.

The blue is a bit of a darker shade, reminiscent of Batman's look in stories such as Batman: Hush. It's definitely a smart move, as the darker tint of blue blends in well with the shadowy world of Gotham. The simplistic utility belt and bat symbol also look great with the skin.

14 Batman v Superman 2016 - A Beautiful Lie

Batman Arkham Knight BvS

This skin is from Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where Batman was portrayed by Ben Affleck. The skin looks like an updated and more detailed version of Frank Miller's Batman, using newer textures and adding small yet tactical details.

The skin is a desaturated and grey look for the bat, that stands out thanks to the blend of battered textures. The scars and cuts on the skin add a layer of personality as well, showcasing how this Batman has been through years of combat.

13 Batsuit V8.03 - Worn and Torn

Batman Arkham Knight b8.03

Arguably the main skin for Arkham Knight, Batsuit v8.03 is made to provide protection as well as increase Batman's speed and agility. The suit improved Batman's stealth capabilities while also creating the most armored, protective look for Batman yet.

The long horns, flexible armor, and smooth textures look great in the game, and the black and grey color scheme allows Batman to easily blend in with the shadows, and his surroundings. However, by the end of the game, this skin goes through a huge amount of damage.

12 Batman Beyond - A Brand New Bat

Batman Arkham Knight Beyond

While not exactly as sleek and smooth as the classic Batman Beyond, this version of the skin has been upgraded by Rocksteady, portraying their own version of the look. The resulting attire is a well-armored and militaristic take on the '90s DC icon, still retaining the thin red bat symbol.

The only strange thing about this skin is its mouth, cloaked in an all-black, thin layer of armor. While this is a realistic approach to the all-black mouth, it can look a bit awkward at times.

11 Batsuit V8.04 Pristine - Better and Badder

Batman Arkham Knight b8.04

For fans of Batsuit 8.03 that dislike the wear and tear it endures, this pristine edition allows you to return the skin to its previous glory. That's right, no more pesky bullet holes, scratches, or cuts. No longer retaining any of its previous damage, the skin returns to its shining and metallic roots.

Now, viewers can appreciate the immense amount of detail, as well as the variety of textures, all put into this skin. It showcases the ingenuity and preparedness the world's greatest detective has, as he has planned for all sorts of problems criminals offer him.

10 Batsuit V8.05 - Golden Glow

Batman Arkham Knight Batsuit 8.05

As a gift to Arkham's greatest completionists, Rocksteady awards gamers Batsuit 8.05, a golden, glowing edition of Batsuit 8.03. The golden metallic bat symbol looks incredible in the game, complimenting the darkness of the rest of the skin very well. The body of the skin is updated as well, replacing the grey and black color scheme with an all-black style.

While many casual players may think the skin isn't worth the hassle, the skin looks fantastic in the game and is a statement of prestige according to Rocksteady itself. It's truly a huge accomplishment to get this great skin.

9 New 52 - Zero Year

Batman Arkham Knight New 52

DC's New 52 may not have been kind to every character, but it was a stellar time for Batman. Fans were gifted with this new look for him, blending slick fashion with functionality. The grey and black look is almost like an upgrade to the original grey and black look, as the new protective texture makes Batman look much more imposing.

Like the '60s series pack, the New 52 skins also run in the family, as Robin and Nightwing also have their comic accurate looks. All three skins look great, but they're even better when the family's all together.

8 Original Arkham - A Beloved Classic

Batman Arkham Knight Original

Want to head back to the asylum and city days for Batman? Then let the nostalgia flow by equipping this old-school skin. The original Arkham skin looks better than ever here, as the upgraded graphics add more details to the Batsuit's protective and smooth materials.

The blue, grey, and black color combination looks great in the dark skies of Gotham City, and the slick bat symbol looks fantastic alongside the matching batarangs. The utility belt is squared and bulky, standing out from the usual rounded ones.

7 Flashpoint - A Corrupted World

Batman Arkham Knight Flashpoint

Time travel is a great way to make new stories, and Flashpoint brought in a ruthless new man to wear the cowl: Thomas Wayne. The father mourned the tragic loss of his son, becoming an older, brutal new Batman. The skin is a great representation of the character, armed even with the gun holsters and bloodred eyes.

The skin also has more armor, straps, and pockets, showcasing how armed Thomas was. Perhaps the biggest touches of personality are the shoulder pads, which reveal that having a flair for theatrics runs in the Wayne family.

6 Arkham Origins - Wanted Man

Batman Arkham Knight Origins

Despite Arkham Origins sometimes seeming like the unwanted stepchild of the Arkham series, nobody can deny how amazing Batman looks in this game. The armored grey attire looks great in the cold wintery Gotham, while also showcasing the preparation and intelligence of a young Bruce.

Arkham Knight upgrades the skin, altering the grey into a black and dark grey look. This allows the utility belt to stand out even more, while also allowing this more older and cunning Bruce to be more stealthy.

5 1989 - Dance With The Devil

Batman Arkham Knight 1989

This skin is from Tim Burton's 1989 classic, 'Batman', where the dark detective was portrayed by Michael Keaton. The skin has a sleek, almost rubbery texture, and the all-black attire looks incredible in action. It also has the classic attached cowl, but with much more flexibility than Keaton's real cowl.

The most iconic part of the skin is the color scheme, being all black with yellow highlights, like the simplistic and iconic bat symbol on his chest. It's a fantastic skin, and one that blends accuracy and functionality.

4 Earth 2 - Sins of The Father

Batman Arkham Knight Earth 2

Earth 2's original Batman was once Bruce Wayne, however, he was killed alongside his allies after Darkseid's invasion. In a time where Gotham needed a Batman, a surviving Thomas Wayne honored his son's legacy, taking over as the new Batman, with an all-new look.

There's something great about the black and red combination, as this skin stylishly blends the color scheme with the grey Batman armor. The glowing red eyes increase a sense of intimidation, making Thomas look like a bat out of hell.
