Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Update 1.2 has been added to the sandbox military tactical shooter Arma 3. The update, part of the Arma 3 Creator DLC initiative and developed by third-party studio Vertexmacht, brings with it a slew of brand new content, including a variety of new aircraft, as well as a wide range of bug fixes and game improvements.
Global Mobilization Update 1.2 is a free content update to the DLC, and primarily comes with a fleet of aircraft, including three new helicopters (and 15 variants), and two new airplanes (and two variants). The update also throws in a new ground vehicle (with two variants), four new weapons (with three variants), and a stockpile of new gear and clothing.
Bohemia Interactive (Arma 3, DayZ, Ylands) has a post up on the Arma 3 website with more info on this update. Additionally, Vertexmacht posted a preview of Update 1.2 back in April of this year on the Bohemia site that details many of the aircraft included. And for a complete list of new content, check out the official Global Mobilization Changelog.
The line of helos landing in Update 1.2 includes the PAH-1 Anti-Tank Helicopter for West Germany. The PAH-1 is a fast, agile helo armed with the HOT-1 long-range anti-tank guided missile. The VBH-1 is the unarmed variant, used for scouting and light troop transport.
The CH-53G Mittlerer Transporthubschrauber is a heavy-lift and transport helicopter, capable of carrying multiple infantry squads, light vehicles, and heavier vehicles via sling-load.
The Mi-2 Hoplite is the first attack helicopter in-game for East Germany, and comes armed with a fixed 23mm autocannon and either a quadruple PKT mount or unguided rockets. The Mi-2 mil version comes with four variants - Mi-2T, Mi-2URP-G, Mi-2 Platan, and Mi-2Ch.
Among the new fixed-wing additions with the update is the Luftwaffe’s Do 28 D-2, a STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) plane used for paratrooper and medevac operations. Another fixed-wing addition is the L-410 UVP transport plane. As the D-2, it’s also STOL-capable, and is used to haul paratroopers and cargo. High-ranking military and the political elite have a variant of the L-410 available.
Rounding out the new content in this update are ground vehicles such as the SpPz 2A1 and SpPz 2A2, new weapons such as the FIM-43 Redeye shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile, MN-111 Air-Droppable mine, SG5A2 submachine gun, and anti-air tripod for the MG3 machine gun, and new clothing, including vests, hats, helmets, goggles, and uniforms.
