A modder has given Arthur Morgan the ending he truly deserved, including Micah dying of tuberculosis and Arthur getting married to Mary.
Red Dead Redemption 2 can be a polarising game, but one thing that almost all players agree on is that Arthur Morgan is one of gaming's best-realised protagonists and that, no matter which variation of the game's ending that you get, he never gets the happy life that he deserves.
YouTuber cad5150 is here to change that, with a video titled, "I Created The Best Ending For Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2 Alternate Ending". The video begins with Arthur choosing not to break Micah out of jail, before seeing him escape, get tuberculosis from Thomas Downes and die in the streets of Valentine.
The tears start rolling quick as Arthur is shown helping Uncle and John build Beecher's Ranch, before getting married to Mary Linton with all of the gang watching on happily. Morgan is then shown raising his child and teaching him how to look after a horse. His son is shown reading and writing, just like his dad, before Mary and Arthur go to get their photo taken, just like how John and Abigail did in Red Dead Redemption 2 proper. Arthur and Mary do all of the same things that John and Abigail did on their date before they return home and Arthur watches the sunset in the distance.
Essentially, this ending shows what could have happened if Micah hadn't come along and ruined everything. John and Abigail thrive with Mary and Arthur over at Beecher's Hope, Dutch never succumbs to Micah egging him on and sending him down a bad path, and Arthur never goes to visit Thomas Downes, preventing him from getting tuberculosis.
Considering how popular of a character Arthur Morgan is and how undeniably sad his real ending is, it's pretty cathartic to see him get such a happy ending. Red Dead Redemption 2 would be a much shorter game if it played out like this, but we'd be fine with it to see Arthur and John build that house together.
