If you play Pokemon Sword and Shield, there's a chance you might be able to get your hands on Ash's Charizard before the month is out - however, it's important to note that the offer won't be available for everyone.

Earlier this year, Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution launched on Netflix all over the world - except for in South Korea. It was the first time a Pokemon movie ever debuted on a streaming service as opposed to having a theatrical release, marking a huge change for the iconic franchise.

But to reiterate, said change was only mostly global. South Korea did not see the pseudo-live-action remake of Mewtwo Strikes Back launch via streaming platforms, and would instead adhere to the traditional theatrical release. Despite having to wait a little longer for the film, fans from Korea will be glad to know that sometimes things are worth the wait.

According to Pokemon news site Serebii, fans who go to see Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution in theatres will get two serial codes. The first code is for a Mewtwo in Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu, while the second can be redeemed in order to get Ash's Charizard in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

You can check out details of Ash's Charizard in Pokemon Sword and Shield below.

As you can see, this Charizard has a fixed ability (Blaze) and nature (Adamant), and its four moves will always be the same. Although Flamethrower, Dragon Tail, and Slash are standard enough for a level 50 Charizard, this version also knows Seismic Toss, a move ordinary Charizard cannot learn in-game.

As mentioned above, the only way to get Ash's Charizard in Pokemon Sword and Shield is to see Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution in theatres in South Korea. Although players from other regions will be able to trade for this Charizard, its status as a limited-time-event Pokemon with a legacy move - meaning a move it knows that it can't normally learn - will likely mark it as pretty valuable on the trading market.

So, if you're planning on seeing Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution on September 30 in South Korea, Ash's Charizard could be yours. Otherwise, you'd better start farming shinies so you'll have something worthwhile to trade for it.
