A sneak peek of an upcoming episode of Pokémon Journeys has revealed that Ash will be reunited with his team from the Alola region.

Fans of the Pokémon anime have watched Ash Ketchum assemble various different teams over the course of the past two decades or more. The young trainer leaves his old team behind and starts afresh whenever he heads to a new region, not including Pikachu, of course. The OG follows Ash wherever he goes, and will not finally become a Raichu, despite the recent tease.

That can be quite an emotional moment for anyone who has become invested in the show. Even though Ash has the strongest attachment to Pikachu, his other Pokémon end up being more than just animals he uses to battle. Need we remind you of the time Ash was forced to parts ways with his Butterfree?

While there's no sign of a reunion with Butterfree anytime soon, we do have good news for fans of the team Ash formed in the Alola region. A preview for an upcoming episode of Pokémon Journeys has revealed that the trainer is about to be reunited with the whole gang. The preview shows Ash and Pikachu in a group embrace including Incineroar, Lycanroc, Rowlet, and Melmetal.

What the preview doesn't reveal is how and why Ash has been reunited with his Alolan Pokémon. Fans of the show have already been filled with hope, though. The creators of Pokémon Journeys have demonstrated on numerous occasions that they are not afraid to throw a curveball or two our way. Some are even hopeful that Ash's Alolan team will be the first of many to make a welcome cameo appearance this season.

There has also been speculation that one or more of Ash's Alolan pals will be sticking around. If that happens, which member of the team would you like to see join up with Ash's new team, getting a second chance to battle alongside the world's most famous Pokémon trainer? No word yet on what else will happen during the episode, or when the new episode will air.
