As you make your way forward, you will come face to face with multiple life-threatening decisions. This can be overwhelming at first, but we are here to help you move forward successfully. In this guide, we are going to go over beginner's tips to help you survive in this ashy world.

Analyze The Situation

When confronted with a choice, you will have several options. Most of the time, you will have an option based on each character in your party. For example, if you come across a dangerous wolf, you can flee, hide, or attack.

As you enter situations where a choice needs to be made, it's important to take your time and think it through. Every choice matters, so making quick decisions could ultimately lead to the end of your survivors.

Consider All Possibilities

Going hand in hand with the tip above, it's also important to consider all the possibilities. For example, if you meet a group of native people, you may have the option to talk peacefully, hide, or attack. Think about what each choice could lead to.

What if you encounter the people later on in your travels? If you initially talked peacefully, they may be more open to greeting you. Alternatively, it could be a very hostile tribe, and they could engage in battle immediately.

Think carefully about each decision, and play out all the possibilities.

Violence Isn't Always The Answer

In a post-apocalyptic world covered in ash, things can be pretty bleak. You may think that violence is the best answer, but oftentimes, the best solution is a peaceful confrontation.

Before you rush to attack, try to use a peaceful approach. This applies to meeting with tribes, as well as wild animals. If you can avoid a vulture by hiding, you will not risk putting your survivors in harm's way.

In the image above, you can see that the survivors shared a meal with a stranger, who provided helpful information. You can learn valuable information by taking a peaceful approach.

Camp Often

Camping is the best way to fulfill the needs of your survivors. Try to camp as often as you can to tend to all four of them.

While camping, you can make a campfire for warmth, as well as feed or heal any survivor. Additionally, you can assign your survivors to guard the camp, sleep, chat, or explore. Guarding and sleeping are a must; your survivors need to rest, but you still need to have someone on guard. If you do not have a survivor guarding the site, you could risk a surprise attack by people or wild animals.

When your survivors engage in conversation, you will get to see what they are saying. Sometimes, your survivors will mention new areas, or discuss the temperament of a nearby group of people. Keep these conversations in mind as you continue to explore. If your survivors are already well-rested, and you have someone on guard, assign them to talk amongst themselves.

Achieve Multiple Endings

There are 34 possible endings to Ashwalkers. Naturally, some are better than others. Each run of the game is around two hours, and you are encouraged to begin again to make new choices.

When one run comes to an end, start again and try to get other endings. Did something go wrong halfway through the run? Do you feel like you could have done something better? Think about this as you complete additional runs to view alternative endings.

Grabbing Supplies

Don't forget to grab supplies as you travel. There are three main resources in the game; food, medicine, and campfire fuel. All three of these resources can be found from glowing white spots on the ground. The items within each spot are random, but in general, you have a lower chance of finding medicine.

When your survivors become cold, hungry, or injured, they have a chance of dying. Overall, gather enough supplies to keep your survivors healthy and happy.

Don't Give Up

Lastly, don't give up! If you make a wrong turn and a survivor dies, you may feel a bit discouraged. With fewer survivors, you will have fewer options during confrontations and events. Even if this happens, it's important to not give up. Your remaining survivors can still make it to the Dome of Domes with your help, so keep moving forward with them.

Don't forget, if all your survivors die, the story will end, but you can start a new run. Use this new clean slate to do things differently.

Now that you know the beginner's tips for Ashwalkers, it's time to make your way to the Dome of Domes!
