Ubisoft will be releasing the latest Assassin’s Creed game on Amazon Luna, but not Google Stadia. The company plans to bring other highly anticipated games to the platform including Skull & Bones, but Ubisoft recently confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be exclusive to Luna, at least when it comes to streaming services. This naturally surprised many fans of the franchise given the large number of Assassin’s Creed games already on the platform. The news comes from a recent report by Axios. “Next year's Mirage will come to consoles, PC, and streaming, but only to Amazon Luna in terms of cloud services, Ubisoft confirms, despite some apparent listings of a release for Google Stadia.”RELATED: Cloud Gaming Won't Take Off Until Companies Can Guarantee Your Library Will Be Protected“That's a conspicuous franchise to drop Stadia support,” the report in question remarks. “The service's first public beta in 2018 used one game, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and numerous Assassin’s Creed games have been released on it since. Ubisoft does plan Stadia releases for 2022 games Skull & Bones and Just Dance.”The report was quickly followed up with a post on Twitter by the well known journalist Stephen Totilo, recently returned from a trip to Paris, France where he spoke with Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft Yves Guillemot among several other members of senior management.

“Assassin's Creed Mirage will not be on Google Stadia,” Totilo remarked. “Just Amazon Luna in terms of streaming services, Ubisoft confirms.” The journalist called the move “an eye-catching omission given that Stadia launched with an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey beta test and has had tons of Assassin’s Creeds.”

The reasons for keeping Assassin’s Creed Mirage off the streaming service are unclear, but some have been speculating about the possibility of an exclusivity agreement between Ubisoft and Amazon. What this means for Stadia going forward remains to be seen.
