Assassin's Creed Odyssey breaks the mold of the series by allowing you to make decisions that affect the world around you. It is a true RPG, unlike its predecessors, with multiple ways the story can conclude.
Naturally, the best ending to the game is a bit of a subjective consideration. But what the fan community considers the happiest, most positive ending for Odyssey is the one in which all the members of your family are alive and reunited: Myrinne, Nikolaus, Deimos, Stentor, and yourself. It's also called the "Family" ending.

8 How To Get The Best Ending (Overview)
To achieve this "best ending" result at the end of the game, there are six major decisions you must make:
- Do Not Kill Nikolaus (Chapter 2).
- Don't Agitate Deimos (Chapter 3).
- Tell Myrrine You'll Try To Save Deimos (Chapter 6).
- Convince Nikolaus To Step In With Stentor (Chapter 7).
- Start To Help Deimos Unravel Their Brainwashing (Chapter 8).
- Refuse To Fight Deimos (Chapter 9).
This guide will walk you through each point to ensure that you can get the Family ending.
Deimos is the trickiest part of the best ending — you should keep in mind that every interaction you have with him will earn goodwill or incite his anger, and these small choices will add up to a success or a failure during the final mission.
Decisions you make that don't relate to these story beats shouldn't affect the ending you get — that said, we recommend that you save often. Sometimes you may not realize you've arrived at a crucial point in the story, or you may simply want to chance to replay the story and make new choices for a different ending.
7 Do Not Kill Nikolaus (Ch. 2)
Playing through the first story missions will lead you to search for Nikolaus, the man who tossed you to your death as a child.
You'll first have to earn the trust of Stentor, Nikolaus' adopted son and high-ranking Spartan officer. After running about doing jobs for him and helping out in a Conquest Battle, Nikolaus will request a meeting with you.
Dialogue Options
For the most part, you can play this conversation however you want to. You'll reveal your identity since he hasn't seen you since you were a child, and demand answers from him. The important part comes towards the end, where the game gives two options on how to proceed:
- "I've come to take my revenge."
- "I've come to get answers."
You should choose the "I've come to get answers" response, which will mean that Nikolaus flees (and stays alive, to be seen later on in the game).
6 Don't Agitate Deimos (Ch. 3)
During Chapter 3, you'll be sent to improve your spear for the first time. Upon exiting the cave, Deimos will be waiting for you. Many of the dialogue choices in this conversation don't change too much, but choosing the passive options is your best bet to help Deimos start to trust you.
Dialogue Options
Some choices don't make much difference, but a few of them have more passive options that won't provoke Deimos' rage (as much) and will earn goodwill, which will help at the end of the game. Opt for those whenever possible.
The final options are the most critical; Deimos is unstable, so don't let the conversation break down into a fight. The options will be:
- "Not before I hurt you."
- "You're still my brother."
- "I'm going."
Whatever you do, don't say "Not before I hurt you," because this will result in a small fight. Either of the other options will be alright.
5 Tell Myrrine You'll Try To Save Deimos (Ch. 6)
During the sixth chapter, you'll reunite with your mother, Myrrine, who's been operating as a Spartan leader under the pseudonym 'Phoenix.' After the battle in Paros, you're able to rest and catch up with her.
Dialogue Options
There's only one dialogue choice that's important to the ending here, and that's the one about Deimos. It's right in the middle, so you could easily miss it. The player can tell Myrrine that:
- "We'll get him/her back."
- "He's beyond saving."
Choose "we'll get him/her back" to ensure you remain on track for the Family ending.
4 Convince Nikolaus To Step In With Stentor (Ch. 7)
The story missions eventually lead you to do a job for Stentor, your step-brother, again. He asks you to kill four Boeotian champions in order to weaken the Athenian forces, but when you've killed three and arrived at the fourth, Nikolaus will be fighting them.
In this conversation, it's critical that you convince Nikolaus to offer his help to Stentor in person. Choose the "Go to him" dialogue option.
Later, when Stentor is angry at you for separating him from his father and wants to duel to the death, Nikolaos will return and break up the fight. You shouldn't get the option to fight Stentor under these circumstances — it's vital that he's alive.
3 Start To Help Deimos Unravel Their Brainwashing (Ch. 8)
In the game's story quests, you'll participate in the Battle of Pylos. The Cult of Cosmos is present, along with Deimos. In the end, Deimos will be trapped under a tree, and then you will be as well. You'll wake up in a cell after being kidnapped by the Cult, where Deimos is waiting to talk to you.
While many guides say that the conversation options you take with Deimos while you're in the cell make or breaks this ending, it's actually not the key decision.
The essential decision is actually in the previous quest, during the battle in Pylos: at the end of the battle, you need to choose the "Hold on!" option where you try to save Deimos, not the "You made your choice" option.
During the conversation with Deimos in jail, choose whichever options you prefer. They will have an impact on Deimos' goodwill to you later, so it's not totally unimportant.
Definitely don't choose any (Lie) options, and avoid aggravating them.
There are a few paths that seem to have the most sway over Deimos, if you'd rather be safe than sorry. One reliable conversation path to earn goodwill with Deimos is:
- "It was the prophecy."
- "The prophecy said you'd doom Sparta."
- "Our mother searched for you."
- "She thought you were dead."
- "I was thrown off, too."
If you chose "Hold on!" in Pylos, you'll know you've started to unravel Deimos' brainwashing because they'll yell "I am not your puppet!" at Kleon after the jail conversation.
2 Refuse To Fight Deimos (Ch. 9)
Towards the end of the game, Deimos is shot with an arrow by a cult member, Kleon, on accident. You'll run after Kleon and kill him before returning to check on Deimos. The conversation between you, Deimos, and Myrrine will progress with only a few dialogue options. This is the point where you'll discover if you can save Deimos from the Cult.
Dialogue Options
When talking to Myrrine, say: "Deimos might be alive."
Tell Deimos: "You don't need the Cult."
The climax will be when you tell Deimos: "I don't want to fight you." You'll offer them your spear, and, assuming you've earned enough goodwill with Deimos up until this point, they will take the spear, begin to cry, and drop to their knees before Myrrine runs to embrace them.
1 To The Victor Go The Spoils
There are nine different endings and nine different versions of the "Dinner in Sparta" quest. Now that everyone has survived, Myrrine, Nikolaos, Deimos, and Stentor will join you for dinner, bantering with one another and wrestling in the living room (as many good family evenings end).
The people who join you for dinner will also become available as Lieutenants for your ship, so not only can the family come together for dinner, they can also be together forever after.
