When Assassin's Creed: Odyssey begins, you have the option to choose either Alexios or Kassandra. It is a decision that cannot be undone unless you restart the game and most people do not make this choice lightly. This single decision could make or break the game as you ponder which character would work better for you as a player.

We have come up with reasons why Kassandra is better than her counterpart Alexios. It might seem like a trivial decision and one that is usually determined based upon your own gender, but it is something you should take seriously. Keep reading to learn about the ten reasons why Kassandra is better than Alexios.

10 Kassandra is a Strong Female Character

It can be tough to create a female character whose voice is as strong as her physical attributes, but Assassin's Creed: Odyssey excelled at it. She is able to back up her fighting abilities with a wicked tongue that stumps even the most educated scholars. It has become a new thing in this modern day and age to create more heroines in games, and this is a perfect example of it. It might be the same lines no matter the character, but hearing the words come from Kassandra's mouth makes them so much better.

9 Assassin's Creed: Origins Made You Play as a Male

The previously released game, called Assassin's Creed: Origins, made you play as a male character known as Bayek. When you progressed through the story you did have the chance to play portions as a female character, but it is not the same as Odyssey. This new game gives you the chance to play out an entire story as a female assassin, which has only been done a few times throughout the franchise.

8 There Are Some Armor Sets Alexios Can't Pull Off

It's pretty obvious when you equip certain armor sets onto Alexios that he wasn't the intended wearer, and they were meant for Kassandra. They did make it possible for you to customize the look of your armor to prevent any people from regrettably not wearing an armor piece, because it created a fashion disaster. There are those who see no issue with this development, but others find that the image becomes embedded in their brains and they can never look at Alexios the same way again.

7 Alexios Makes for a Better Deimos

Deimos is the demigod in the game and it could also be argued that it is the main character's alter ego. Kassandra could be Deimos, but Alexios' brute power and overall attitude make him better suited for the role. His character comes off as angrier than Kassandra, which is exactly how Deimos should be portrayed. Alexios might appear stronger, but his directness and fury are the same motives we'd expect would drive Deimos to do the things he does throughout the story.

6 Kassandra Has a Better Voice Actor

Melissanthi Mahut, the voice actor who portrays Kassandra, does a phenomenal job of making gamers feel something throughout the playthrough of the game. The accent, combined with the undeniable expression in her voice, makes this character come alive on our screens. She sells us on her mission and her feelings throughout the story, even as they change based on your decisions throughout the game. It gives us a reason to want to finish the game and make it to the very end, because Kassandra is pushing us to do so.

5 It Plays Better into the Prophecy

The prophecy stated that in order to prevent the fall of Sparta, the child must fall first. Spartan society never would have viewed a baby girl as a threat to their standing in the war, but a baby boy would have been a different story. When you choose to play as Kassandra, it formulates a twist that you wouldn't be as privileged to see as Alexios. The Spartans would never have expected Kassandra to be the force behind their victories, as her plummet down the mountain was what made her into the misthios she turned into.

4 Male Leads Are Overdone

It is rare for a game to give you the option to play as a female, but this game decided to go against the grain. This gives playfers the opportunity to play as a female despite the high population of men who reportedly play video games. The numbers are growing closer as years pass, but games are still slow to release female main characters. Gamers should take advantage of this aspect of Odyssey and see for themselves why more female leads should be added as heroines.

3 Men Sometimes Want To Mix It Up

Kassandra is a win-win for both genders as she is the epitome of female empowerment. Male gamers may want to try playing as a strong woman, rather than just another grotesquely masculine man. Females, on the other hand, tend to enjoy playing as female characters and idolize them for their impressive skills in terms of fighting and speech. It creates a good dynamic for either gender and gives both valid reasons to choose Kassandra as their main character.

2 Alexios Seems Comical and Lifeless

It has been stated by many people that some of Alexios' sayings during the game come across as comical or lifeless, and sometimes even a mixture of both. The voice actor Michael Antonakos made Alexios into a decent guy, but there were some key parts where he over or underacted portions of his speeches. This made it hard for gamers to want to have Alexios make the right decisions and some even went so far as to start over and switch characters. Others have raved about his fantastic voice, but it just doesn't do enough for most gamers.

1 She is the Canon Character

Kassandra was the player that you are meant to choose, as she is the canon character for this particular game. If nothing else has convinced you to choose Kassandra, then this is the reason that will change your mind. You may feel entitled to play as Kassandra because it was the way you were supposed to play. Many people have found it interesting to play positively as Kassandra and go back and make different decisions as Alexios the second time around.
