Apart from Odyssey and Rogue, every Assassin's Creed game has revolved around a member of the Assassin Brotherhood (or the precursor group known as the Hidden Ones). And each of them has had to follow the tenets of the ancient Order's Creed. None of those tenets refer to a dress code, though.

Assassins are seemingly able to wear what they want to put down their targets — most of whom are dangerous Templars. Generally, though, most adopt the use of a hooded robe to give themselves a stealthy advantage. But beyond that, Assassins can personalize their outfit however they wish. Thus, the main Assassins in the series all have their own signature looks, which vary in quality.

Updated February 18, 2022 By Ben Jessey: Nintendo Switch users now have the luxury of experiencing the incredible Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection. It features all of the Italian Assassin's main adventures. While playing through, you may notice the protagonist wearing a few different outfits during the series. But his robes from Brotherhood end up being his signature set of clothing.

All the other main Assassins have their own style, too. Each one fits the time and place they live. And a while ago, we created this list to rank them all. But we felt the need to update it to make sure all the primary assassins are included.

12 Layla Hassan, The Casual Look

During her time in the series, Layla wasn't a traditional assassin who tracked down targets and jumped around cities.

So naturally, she didn't don inconspicuous hooded attire or one of Odyssey's beautiful armor sets. Her signature outfit was just regular civilian gear, which is the problem. While her scarf and jacket combo looks fine, it's not as interesting or original as the Assassin robes that others wear.

11 Jacob Frye, The Refined Assassin

Promo Shot for Assassin's Creed Syndicate Jacob and Evie

Syndicate's Jacob Frye could wear multiple different sets of clothes throughout the game. However, the Outdoorsman outfit (as it's named in-game) is what he wore in most of the promotional material, so it has to be considered his signature one.

It consists of a long coat with a paisley green or blue vest. The get-up doesn't look too good, especially when the man isn't in stealth mode because then he adds a top hat instead of a hood. It's a choice of headwear that fits the period in which the title is set, but it doesn't really suit an Assassin.

10 Evie Frye, The Plain Assassin

The female Frye twin had on the Simply Evie outfit for Syndicate's promotional material. And she also started the outstanding Assassin's Creed game in those same robes.

Unfortunately, the get-up isn't that impressive. The colors are too plain because of the hefty use of dark blue and only a few red highlights. It's not ugly looking, but it didn't stand out. Although the addition of the cape is nice as after Ezio, that cool accessory seemed to get forgotten.

9 Eivor, The Viking Attire

Eivor rocks their brown get-up on the Assassin's Creed Valhalla cover art and in most of the promotional material. It's certainly an outfit that's fit for a Viking, but it's not exactly easy on the eye.

Along with the previously mentioned brown, there's a bit of red and blue in the attire. None of the colors compliment each other that well, though. At least the fur looks nice and is a practical choice for someone from Norway. Still, there are far better-looking outfits in the game.

8 Ezio Auditore, The Italian Take On Traditional Robes

Ezio had different robes in each of his three adventures. However, his one from Brotherhood appeared as an additional outfit more often in the later games. Thus, it counts as his main one.

In terms of color, the get-up is beautiful, with the traditional white and red blending fantastically together. And the belt looks outstanding too. The inside collar, on the other hand, ruins everything. It looks odd and doesn't go with the rest of the attire. Plus, the robes look distinctively worse once armor starts to cover them up.

7 Desmond Miles, The Sneaking Hoodie

What's the contemporary version of the Assassin robe? A hoodie. At least that's what Desmond Miles went with during his sorely missed escapades.

It's actually a clever way to keep the hooded look while still remaining inconspicuous in the present day. So the outfit certainly gets bonus points for being creative and practical. Yet, as a whole, it simply not stylish enough to compare to some of his ancestors' attires.

6 Aveline De Grandpre, The Undershirt And Robe Combo

During Liberation, Aveline donned a few different get-ups. Her main outfit, though, was her Assassin gear. Instead of a long coat or cloak, her attire makes use of an undershirt with her robe over the top.

Overall, it's a good look. The brown and red mix well together, while the white sleeves brighten the whole thing up. Furthermore, the big leather spaulders on the shoulders make it stand out.

5 Bayek Of Siwa, The Sunny Weather Outfit

Bayek's trademark look was put together long before the Assassins even existed. But it's still got some of the hallmarks of Assassin robes such as a red belt, bracers, and of course, the hood.

Although, what most notice first about the outfit is how much skin is on show. It makes sense as Bayek spent a lot of time roaming around scorching deserts. Along with practicality, the minimalist nature of the get-up is unique for Assassin's Creed. And with the addition of the cool-looking piece of armor around the shoulders, it's definitely among the best-looking armor sets in Origins.

4 Edward Kenway, The Pirate Look

Normally, covering up beautiful Assassin robes with brown padding would ruin the outfit, yet it fits Edward Kenway's personality. The pirate doesn't care about looking fancy or respecting the ancient Order's robes.

He felt that he needed the extra padding, so he put some on. Likewise, he needed quick access to his pistols, therefore, he strapped them to his chest, and it looks awesome. Plus, the robes underneath still provide enough color so that the attire isn't too dull.

3 Arno Dorian, The Noble Look

The greatness of Arno's main Assassin robes comes from how well they fit with the fashion of the time period. He doesn't look out of place in 18th century France. In fact, his outfit looks very similar to what the French Soldiers wore in the game.

Furthermore, they're really fancy, which would look odd on the likes of Edward or Jacob. But for Arno, the regal element suits him as he grew up as a noble. Also, the attire gets bonus points for how clean it looks from the back.

2 Connor Kenway, The Personalized Attire

While many fans consider Connor to be a pretty lame Assassin, nobody can question his fashion sense. Prior to AC3, protagonists with red and white robes had been the norm, so the addition of blue was a breath of fresh air.

Although the colors aren't the only amazing part of the get-up. It also has a bunch of little things on it that pay tribute to Connor's Native American heritage, which adds an extra layer of personality to the outfit.

1 Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, The Original Robe

Screenshot Assassin's Creed Altair Robes

In the first game, Altair proved to be one of the Order's best-ever Assassins when he stopped Al Mualim's evil plot, but more importantly, he looked good doing it. There's a certain simplicity to the original Assassin robes that works really well. And while red and white got mundane after a while, it still felt fresh when Altair donned the colors.

Even the leather pieces holding his equipment look good, from the giant belt to the straps keeping his blades secure. Speaking of blades, the way his sword is held on his back is striking, too. It's truly a visually stunning attire that's enhanced by the legacy Altair created while wearing it.
