There is not much information on the new game, but we have compiled some vague facts to help hold players over until we know more. The past few games have been great, so it is a no-brainer that we would be antsy for another. Keep reading to learn 10 things we already know about Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok!

10 10. It Is Set In The Viking Era

The entire premise of the new game puts a focus on Vikings and players are stoked about this development. We wonder how they will incorporate their own religious beliefs in with the mystical lore of the franchise.

It can already be guessed that the fights will be gruesome and the armor sets your player can collect will be amazing. There are so many different facets to this old society that we can bet the gameplay and storyline of the adventure will keep players intrigued throughout the entire game.

9 9. Players Will Team Up With Ragnar Lothbrok

Ragnar Lothbrok was a Viking whose life ended up being recorded in medieval literature as an invader. He will be the other main character in the series who players will team up with throughout the storyline.

You will fight side-by-side with this great man as you take down neighboring kingdoms. It will be epic as he leads you into battle and you take down unlikely foes and focus on the alternative lore that the franchise always throws into the mix.

8 8. It Will Be Released In 2020

The game is expected to be officially revealed in February of 2020, so we hope to see the game by the end of the year. There was not a single game released in the franchise during all of 2020, so we hope that the wait was worth it.

These have been growing increasingly more complicated and intricate, which could explain this longer lapse in time. It will be disappointing if the developers fail to deliver, but so far we don't have much to complain about.

7 7. The Game Will Be Based In Central Europe

The Vikings lived all over the world, but this game will focus on their beginnings. The locations that will be featured include Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. It will be interesting to see what these different areas look like and how they separate the numerous kingdoms.

We can already imagine sailing the high seas to make it to the next area on the map. It can also be guessed that there will probably be several different types of Viking villages spread across the giant world they plan to create.

6 6. Co-Op Side Quests Will Be Making A Comeback

The only game from the franchise that had co-op was Unity, but they plan to implement it in this new world. It is no secret why they did it as players want the opportunity to play online with their friends and complete quests throughout the world.

It will make the game last longer as players want to continue to explore the entire map and complete all of the quests. Other gamers might be more enticed to buy the game now that they can play online with their friends as it adds a new dimension to the game.

5 5. There Will Be Less Ship Combat

The franchise has decided that they will begin to move away from ship combat, and players are pretty excited. It will put focus more on the exploration of the world, rather than destroying enemies on the seas.

It makes sense with the theme that this aspect would be implemented as they were not known for their attacks in the water. The Vikings were land fighters who preferred going head-to-head with their attackers, which is why ship combat wouldn't have as much of a place in this game.

4 4. Conquest Battles Will Take Place

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey implemented something called conquest battles where players could help Athens or Sparta take over the region. It gave players the chance to earn better armor, level up quickly, and fight a mercenary.

They have decided that this same idea will be put into the new game they are creating. There will be several kingdoms spread around the map and it will be interesting to see how they incorporate this into the new world. We guess we will just have to wait until February to see how it all pans out.

3 3. Players Will Help Form The Great Heathen Army

The Great Heathen Army is what the Anglo-Saxons called the Viking army that invaded their lands. The different kingdoms of Vikings banded together to take over, but they mainly targeted centers for wealth in these communities.

Some say the raids were to avenge the death of their leader Ragnar Lothbrok, while others say it was just a part of their nature. The true meaning behind it all will never be revealed, but we can bet the developers will give their own spin to the story.

2 2. The Map Is Split Into Kingdoms

The map will be split into several different kingdoms, as the Vikings spanned several areas across Europe. It has been told that these different kingdoms will be able to hold settlements to name their territory as it expands, and we wonder how many they will include in the game. There are so many to choose from with their own personal ways of doing things in terms of the Viking way, and we can't wait to see how the developers create this past world.

1 1. It Is Rumored To Be For Next-Gen Consoles

There are some rumors that this game will be ready to be played on the upcoming next-gen consoles. This includes both the PS5 and Project Scarlett from Xbox. We wonder if it will first be released for the current consoles and then again when these newer platforms come out. It is something we will be interested in learning more about as the release date grows closer and more information is given to gamers who love this franchise.
