There are two types of shields in Assassin's Creed Valhalla called Heavy Shields and Light Shields. Players often prefer Light Shields as their secondary weapon over the latter due to their speed and lack of weight. They might not look as cool on Eivor's back, but when it comes to combat it is a must-have as they are the best.

There are several Light Shields in the game for you to choose from and each one has its own charm. It can be hard to decide which shield to upgrade until you have all of the choices in front of you. However, the stats of your shields could differ based on your skill tree due to the inclusion of mastery of light shields and perks for aligned gear.

Updated May 26th, 2021 by Rebecca O’Neill: The new DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is called Wrath of the Druids. It is set in Ireland and brings a new Trading System and story along with it. However, this isn’t all it has given to its fans, as it also has two new Light Shields called Rus’ Shield and Thorgest's Shield.

Ubisoft has even added several new Light Shields to the store as well, which can be bought with Helix Credits. You can always test your luck and wait to see if they come to Reda’s Shop, but first, you need to know which Light Shield will be the best for you.

God’s Ire

God's Ire Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

You can buy the God’s Ire Light Shield in the store with Helix Credits or wait for it to appear in Reda’s Shop. It has a gorgeous golden hue and blocking stats that will blow you away.

It even comes with a perk that increases stun after a block, which is why it is great for those who wish to dual-wield it with a heavy weapon.

Stats

  • Attack: 114
  • Block: 172
  • Crit-Pre: 89
  • Speed: 53
  • Stun: 179
  • Weight: 9

Veurr

Veurr Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

If you prefer a ranged build over a melee build, then you need to always carry this Light Shield with you. It will increase your ranged damage for your best bow when you are undetected, making it perfect for strolls through enemy forts.

However, this shield can only be acquired by buying it from the store with Helix Credits, but you might be lucky enough to find it in Reda’s Shop as well.

Stats

  • Attack: 114
  • Block: 172
  • Crit-Pre: 89
  • Speed: 53
  • Stun: 179
  • Weight: 9

Gilded Shield

The Gilded Shield’s perk will increase your speed after a block, which is great when paired with a dagger. Its stats are fairly similar to those of other shields, so it is really up to you which perk you prefer, or even just the design.

You can add this Light Shield to your inventory by spending your Helix Credits in the store or by using your opals at Reda’s Shop.

Stats

  • Attack: 114
  • Block: 172
  • Crit-Pre: 89
  • Speed: 53
  • Stun: 179

Winged Shield

The Winged Shield can be bought in Reda’s Shop or the Ubisoft store and it is one of the strongest shields. If you are exceptional at blocking attacks then this shield is for you as it has some of the best stats of any of those you can choose from.

It will even increase your attack after a parry up to five times, so it might be worth it for you to practice this skill in your spare time.

Stats

  • Attack: 118
  • Block: 148
  • Crit-Pre: 89
  • Speed: 50
  • Stun: 179

Celtic Cross Shield Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

There are some hard bosses to defeat in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but this shield’s perk alone can make it easier. It is a bit faster than other shields, however, it lacks in its block in comparison.

You can buy this shield in the store and the perk it comes with is that performing a block will temporarily increase your ability damage.

Stats

  • Attack: 117
  • Block: 139
  • Crit-Pre: 86
  • Speed: 47
  • Stun: 165
  • Weight: 11

Huldufolk Shield

Huldufolk Shield Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Huldufolk Shield is one many players buy for its looks alone, as it must be upgraded before its stats remotely compare to other purchasable shields from the store. It is heavier than some other shields as well, which is part of the reason why players tend to avoid this weapon.

However, it does come with a perk that temporarily increases light damage after a block, which is something everyone will appreciate in battle.

Stats

  • Attack: 46
  • Block: 35
  • Crit-Pre: 45
  • Speed: 51
  • Stun: 63
  • Weight: 12

Sleipnir Shield

Sleipnir Shield Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The perk associated with the Sleipnir Shield makes it so back damage increases after a successful block. This is great, but its stats could be better, especially in terms of its blocking power.

You can buy it in the store or at Reda’s Shop, but there are other Light Shields that are worth your opals more than this.

Stats

  • Attack: 112
  • Block: 125
  • Crit-Pre: 76
  • Speed: 47
  • Stun: 143
  • Weight: 12

Helgi’s Shield

The stats for the Helgi’s Shield are lacking, but it still has some room to grow as you can upgrade it some more. This Light Shield can be bought from the store or Reda’s Shop if you still wish to add it to your inventory.

  • Crit-Pre: 72
  • Speed: 52
  • Stun: 157

Modraniht Ceremonial Shield

Modraniht Ceremonial Shield Light Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Modraniht Ceremonial Shield is part of a free pack in the store, but its stats reflect this as it is quite weak compared to other Light Shields. However, beggars can’t be choosers and you can always make it a little better by spending your skill points accordingly and upgrading it to its max level.

It is quite heavy and slow, but it makes up for this with its perk that increases your speed up to five times when blocking.

Raven Clan Shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

This is the Fine Light Shield that Eivor is given at the beginning of the game after Eivor retrieves her gear in Rygjafylke in Norway. It might not be the best weapon in the game, but it is a great starter weapon for when you have very little in your possession.

The perk this weapon gives its user is that blocking an enemy's attack will temporarily increase your light damage. It allows you to practice your parrying skills and take down tougher opponents even when your power level is low.

Stats

  • Attack: 45
  • Block: 51
  • Crit-Pre: 33

It is just a Fine Light Shield, but its stats are better than those of the Raven Clan Shield that you start off with. This also comes with a perk that increases your speed up to five times after performing blocks.

Stats

  • Attack: 55
  • Block: 51

Players love using this Light Shield as its perk sets off a sleeping bomb after five successful blocks. This is incredibly useful when surrounded by several enemies and you need a reprieve to take them out one by one.

Stats

Its perk is that you will have a 33% chance of creating a poison cloud after a parry, which is great if you have focused on this within your skill tree. Many also find it useful when battling Legendary Animals as it helps to quickly deplete their health.

Stats

  • Attack: 77

  • Crit-Pre: 60
  • Speed: 50
  • Stun: 113
  • Weight: 10

The perk of this weapon is that it will restore some health after a parry, but its stun is what makes it such a desirable weapon. It is perfect when completing the Blood Bond storyline in Wrath of the Druids as it gives you a better chance to defeat your opponents because of this perk.

Stats

  • Attack: 63
  • Block: 59
  • Crit-Pre: 54
  • Speed: 46
  • Stun: 96

It will only be a Fine Light Shield when you receive it, but a series of upgrades can make it into something amazing. Most players use it because of its perk as it has a possibility of igniting after a successful parry.

  • Attack: 55
  • Block: 49
  • Crit-Pre: 52
  • Speed: 48
  • Stun: 90
