This World Event in Assassin's Creed Valhalla can be confusing without knowing where to go, but with these tips, you'll be able to collect and hand in these antlers in no time.

Updated November 25, 2023, by Sean Murray: Still looking for reindeer antlers in AC Valhalla? We got you covered in this guide, now with improved formatting and more breakout tips to make finding those reindeer easier than ever. We've also given this guide more links to other helpful AC Valhalla topics.

While the focus here will be on the World Event you find early on, known as "A Mild Hunt," these reindeer antlers can also be useful for a few other things, including Valka's Brew (given a Rune reward when complete), and crafting ship decorations for Gudmund in Ravensthorpe (given a Carbon Ingot reward when complete).

Start The Quest 'A Mild Hunt'

The quest can be started right from your hometown of Fornburg in Rygjafylke, Norway. You will need to find a woman, and she will be located toward the back of the town sitting outside of a house with a chicken.

She will request you to bring back three reindeer antlers in return for a secret reward, which turns out to be a hint as to where you can find the Elk of the Bloody Peaks, one of the legendary animals.

Hunting Reindeer - An Overview

One thing to keep in mind is that there's a good chance you'll need to kill more than three, as not every animal will drop their rack. If this happens to you, then meditating or skipping time in an area a few times will allow them to respawn again.

Only the males will have (and thus drop) the antlers, so they will be the ones you'll need to hunt.

Deer aren't particularly common or easy to find, let alone hunt, particularly the males. As such, it's a good idea to specifically seek out the following locations and keep hunting within these regions.

Reindeer Locations In AC: Valhalla

There are a few locations where you are almost guaranteed to find a reindeer roaming around — though they won't always drop antlers.

They can be fairly easy to hunt, though they are sensitive and will flee when hearing even a small noise, so Eivor will have to be silent and strike from a distance.

Location 1: A Woodland Area Near Valka's Hut

The easiest spot to find them is right around Valka's hut, where you'll find a cluster of trees several feet to the west.

You can usually find one or two reindeer at this location.

Location 2: Just Outside Valka's Hut To The East

If you head a bit east of Valka's Hut you will come across some trees, and occasionally you will find a single male reindeer here among a herd of females.

This is a more unreliable option, but it could work depending on your luck.

Location 3: Lake To The South Of Hildesvini's Crag

You can also travel around the shallow end of the lake on its southern end; the one where you retrieve the comb for a woman during a different World Event. Usually, a single reindeer will be found in this area.

This is also a great place to fish, so it's a good idea to remember this area.

Location 4: Up The Cliffs And East Of Fornburg

Finally, you can venture a bit east of Fornburg in the southern region of Rygjafylke to spot a few more. Those who opt for this route will need to climb up the cliffs and reach the woods up above.

You'll have to be extra careful here, as there's a chance the pesky deer will scurry off across the map's edge, and then you won't be able to reach them or retrieve their antlers any longer.

Tips for Reindeer Hunting

  • If you've been lucky enough to locate a male reindeer you'll have to be silent and strike quickly, as they can be scared off easily. Have your best bow ready, as a miss or moving too close will cause them to flee.
  • The easiest way to find these reindeer is using Odin's Sight to track them by looking for the brown hide symbol when it is airborne. But do note, this is also the symbol for other animals, such as wolves.
  • It's best to pinpoint the deer first from afar while running about; either through Odin's Sight or by seeing them yourself, then inch closer by crouching and having the bow ready to fire.
  • Aim for the head if you're close enough — but a good body shot at a distance should do the trick as well if your bow is strong enough.
  • Fleeing reindeer can be tough to hit, but don't get discouraged if they catch onto your pursuit. You can track them again by using Odin's Sight and tagging the running animal.
  • If you've missed out on the deer or antlers, meditate or try a different location, then return it if necessary. They will respawn, but it will take several minutes.

What's Next: The Elk Of Bloody Peaks

Upon completing this quest, Eivor will be granted a hint regarding the location of their first legendary beast, The Elk of Bloody Peaks. It can be found roaming west of Fornburg, high in the mountains there.

You will want to be quick here, keep moving, and aim for the lung or chest region. The Brush with Death skill (slows time when dodging attacks) and Man's Best Friend ability (wolf companion) are both useful in this fight.
