One of the many historical figures to feature in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is Rollo. In real life, he is known for playing a big role in the Siege of Paris and later becoming the first ruler of Normandy. He doesn't do either of those things in the game, though. Instead, he spends most of his time visiting brothels. Eivor meets him in one during the Essex arc.

However, things quickly become serious when Rollo takes the protagonist back to his camp, only to find most of his crew dead. Rollo believes he's been betrayed, and one of his people is working with the Saxons. There are two suspects, and you have to figure out which is the culprit. Here's the correct answer, how to achieve it, and how your choice impacts the future.

Gathering All Of The Clues

Eivor might not be the absolute strongest protagonist in the series, but he's smart enough to conduct this investigation. The two suspects are Gerhild and Lork, and to figure out which is guilty, you need to speak with them both.

Speaking To The Suspects

When you question the two suspects about what they were doing when the Saxons attacked, they both individually claim that they were hunting. Lork also says that he saw Gerhild talking to a Saxon.

You can also ask each of them about their relationship with Rollo. Gerhild seems to be a bigger fan of their leader than Lork does. Yet, the latter reveals that he swore a blood-oath to Rollo's father, which doesn't allow him to betray the man.

Finding Evidence

Both defenses are convincing; thus, you need to look for some clues to learn more. There are two pieces of evidence you need to inspect. In the southeast part of the camp, there are piles of fresh meat, meaning that there was no need for anyone to be hunting right now. The next clue is on the camp's west side amid some red bushes. Examine the middle of it to find out that someone was hiding there.

Go back to the suspects with your new information. Call out both of them for lying about hunting. Gerhild then claims she was actually meeting her Saxon lover. Whereas, Lork says that he was sleeping when the attack began and decided to stay hidden, so he could be the one who was in the red bushes.

Who Is The Traitor?

It's not the easiest investigation to solve, but Gerhild is the traitor. While there was no true smoking gun, Lork's story was more believable as there were clear signs that someone was hiding in the shrubbery, and why would it be the person who ordered the attack?

Tell Rollo that Gerhild is guilty, and he will brutally kill her as payback. If you didn't already know the traitor, you wouldn't find out until later when you saw the aftermath.

Aftermath

Like the most important decisions in the game, your traitor accusation has consequences. Later in the story, you and Rollo's crew will be trying to help Estrid flee England.

If you made the wrong decision regarding the traitor, then Gerhild will reveal that she was the one who betrayed Rollo, and the woman you're attempting to help will get an arrow in the leg as a result. Alternatively, if Lork is the one who lives, he'll sacrifice himself to save Estrid.
