The latest Assassin's Creed is finally here, and thanks to a certain Cyberpunk 2077 game being delayed, November has been Ubisoft's month to steal the gaming scene with the releases of Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This time you play as a Eivor, a Viking raider reminiscent of the Berserker from For Honor, another Ubisoft title (which you should check out if you enjoy multiplayer with no guns and lots of swords).

The new era that serves as the setting for this new Assassin's Creed entry is another interesting fit for its plotline, which explored a wide range of places like Italy and Egypt. The fanbase never fails to come up with great content based on these games, from YouTube guides to entertaining memes. And the latter was one of the first byproducts that came out of the game's cinematic trailer.

10 Odin Is With Us

The odin is with us meme, one of the first to emerge after the trailer for the game came out.

The very first meme to arise from Assassin's Creed Valhalla came from the release trailer for the game, and quickly became a fan-favorite template across the Internet. It goes well with anything involving receiving support from someone, and this is one of its best incarnations without a doubt — R.I.P. other team in gym class.

This quote from the trailer appears when Eivor spots a mysterious hooded figure on the battlefield, followed by a crow. This is a nod to Norse mythology, depicting Odin, the All-Father, who was known to travel incognito as a hooded wonderer.

9 God Of War At Home

The "we already have that at home" meme applied to Assassin's Creed Valhalla

It would be an understatement to classify God Of War as a fantastic game. Kratos' majestic return into the gaming scene took the world by storm, and raised the bar for most games out there. It's always good to see the fanbase poke fun at other titles.

God of War is one of the best games to have been released during the PS4 and Xbox One generation, and some people even purchased a PlayStation just to experience the adventure that this title encompassed. This is literally a system-seller, not unlike Breath of The Wild, and it rejuvenated the fans' love for the grumpiest Spartan in videogames.

8 2020 Be Like

This year has been particularly tough, hasn't it? It's hard to say otherwise considering the Australia wildfires, the COVID-19 pandemic, the stressful U.S. presidential election, among many other things.

Whether the planets have misaligned or someone badly fumbled their Jumanji game, this year has been a challenge for all in different ways, and it shaped lives like other years have never done before — unfortunately. Whatever plans you may have had, it's difficult to argue with this meme's assessment.

7 Ezio Would(n't) Be Proud

A meme displaying how far the series has come from its origins

One big change introduced in the latest Assassin's Creed games is the revamped combat system, which is especially befitting for large scale battles. In fact, the mechanics in these games have evolved and come a long way since Altair's days, whose best combat move was a counterattack with his single hidden blade.

You had to be a pro to do that back in the day, though, because the hidden blade could not block as well as a sword. Gone are the days of avoiding conflicts at all costs. Now that Odin is with us, Eivor's skills are nothing to scoff at, even for extremely dangerous Templars.

6 Does Anyone Remember The Assassin's Creed?

Jim Halpert talks about his views on how the Assassin's Creed games have changed through the years.

Maybe Ezio would be proud of this one. Assassin's Creed has gone so far off the rails from what its themes set out to achieve in the first few titles, that the franchise has become almost unrecognizable from its beginnings. Thankfully, almost every character comes with a hidden blade to remind players that they are not playing For Honor or Pirates of the Caribbean. Though, there is no denying that the series is increasingly becoming more fun and also more interesting. Who knows where Assassin's Creed will go to next?

5 One Axe Or Two?

Almost every weapon can be used with dual wield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Sure, you could wield an axe with a shield, get a perfect parry, and counterattack. But why use one axe when you can use two? Nothing feels quite like being a proper dual-wielding Viking, out on a rampage to ransack and pillage.

You become a pretty unstoppable enemy shredder when you couple this skill with certain abilities, like Heavy Dual Wield or Perfect Attack, found in the game's extensive skill-tree. And if you are fond of shields, you can dual-wield those too.

4 S(he) Be(lie)ve(d)

Nothing hits close to home quite like this one. True fans of the series might have payed attention to this neat callback to Assassin's Creed: Revelations, the game that brought Ezio's epic trilogy to a close.

Though the game was not received as well as Brotherhood or Assassin's Creed 2, there is no denying the parallel between Ezio and Altair explored in that title is creative, interesting, and even emotional at times (especially towards the end). This meme perfectly transmits how far the series has come from its early years, and those who stuck with the franchise since the beginning know the nostalgia that comes with this one.

3 Ah Yes, There It Is

Leonardo pointing at Eivor's hidden blade from a still frame.

The hidden blade is what sets every character in the Assassin's Creed games apart from the rest. Really, without it they might as well be generic, parkour, sword-wielding people. Yes, these qualities are indispensable to every assassin, but their signature weapon is undoubtedly the hidden blade.

As time goes on, Assassin's Creed characters are becoming less and less similar to each other. In Black Flag we saw, for the first time, Edward who was more of a pirate than an assassin. In Odyssey we had Kassandra and Alexios who better encompassed iconic Spartan traits, and did not actually wield hidden blades. It was good to see this weapon return in Valhalla.

2 Can't Argue With That

The graphics of the game and the "made me smile" meme.

Despite some technical flaws found in the game at release, the graphics easily live up to this title's predecessors. In Origins you could take in the warmth of the Nile, and in Odyssey the presentation of Greece is neatly executed. Those games had a very solar color palette, which brought out all the vibrancy environments had.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla feels more like something along the lines of Game Of Thrones, with darker hues that make you appreciate rare sunbeams cutting through the foliage. The setting is especially captivating, with its muddy swaps, snowy fields, and dimly lit wooden structures. Even if the level of detail in this game is not exactly on par with something like The Last Of Us 2, it is by no means poorly executed.

1 Only OGs Will Remember

The old techno viking snapped on the cover of Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Players who did not have access to a computer back in the 2010s probably never saw the techno viking video nor its memes. Back in the day, he was one of the first random people to go viral for just being himself, dancing at a parade in Berlin, Germany. The Assassin's Creed community brought him back, better than ever.

The history of this legendary meme traces back to the parade. In the video the man, who has come to be known as the techno viking over time, is initially seen admonishing another man who bumped into a woman. Techno viking tells him to calm down and points for him to move away. In the comment section of the video, some say the man is still walking to this day in the direction the techno viking pointed him to.
