Surprise! Assassin's Creed Valhalla received its Last Chapter update a week early thanks to "a glitch in the Animus." The weird memory-scanning machine has apparently been working overtime because not only are we getting the promised QOL updates and a conclusion to Eivor's story, but we've also received an unexpected quest that ties together Valhalla and the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage. "Roshan from Assassin's Creed Mirage makes an appearance in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with our latest update," writes Ubisoft. "Eivor and Roshan team up in ‘Shared History’ - a new free quest available now!"Related: The Problem With Historical Accuracy In Assassin's Creed Mirage According To A Real ArchaeologistShared History stars Roshan, the precursor to the more modern assassins and Basim’s mentor, who will star in Mirage. Roshan is voiced by the iconic Shohreh Aghdashloo, who we get to hear from quite a bit as she discusses the events leading up to Mirage with Eivor. No spoilers, so download today’s update to find out what these two chat about.

As for The Last Chapter, Eivor indeed wraps up her story with a few farewells to Valhalla’s surviving characters, then she picks up and takes off to North America where she continues to track down Odin. There are a few present-day storyline beats that also set up Mirage as a flashback, which further explains why Mirage will forego any of the modern-day Animus stuff that Assassin’s Creed is known for.

In addition to the new quests, The Last Chapter also brings a free weekly cosmetic item into the Animus Store, a new toggle that lets you keep your hood up as long as you like, and a new set of items sold at NPC shops including new mounts, a raven, and in case you missed them the first time around, past festival rewards.

We still don't know when Assassin's Creed Mirage will arrive in 2023, but we do know that it'll bring back Unity's Parkour system, it'll feature Arabic voice acting in all regions for an authentic-sounding Baghdad, and there won't be any loot boxes.
