Hideki Kamiya, the director of PlatinumGames' recently released Astral Chain, has just responded on Twitter to a number of online demands for a PS4 port of the game. His reply is a definitive confirmation that the game will pretty much never see the light of day on a console other than one released by the game's publisher, Nintendo.

Kamiya's statement on the matter is likely a response to a recent review bomb, in which Metacritic users have been posting bad faith negative reviews of the game, not expressing genuine complaints about the game's quality but solely acting on sore feelings about its Nintendo exclusivity. This is all-but-confirmed, as the source(s) of the review bomb initiative have yet to be directly pinpointed, but many of the users posting these negative reviews seem to have a particular affinity for the PS4.

On one hand, the basis for this sentiment is understandable, given that a mature-in-tone, anime-style action game is much more in line with the PS4 catalog than what's usually released on Nintendo consoles. However, the Switch has been rewriting the rules for what can and can't appear on a Nintendo console in plenty of cases other than just this one. Plus, a review bomb is far from an appropriate response to what otherwise might be justifiable disappointment about the unavailability of a game that not only looks awesome, but is similar to the types of games PS4 owners have become accustomed to playing.

Furthermore, Kamiya's response seems to indicate that he's become a little fed up with this internet uproar (and how could he not have?). Rather than simply confirm that the game will remain a Nintendo exclusive, he notes that it would probably be pretty cool to have MarioZelda and Metroid games on the Playstation too, before directing all inquiries about console exclusivity to the game's publisher and investor Nintendo.

These sound like the words of a man who's had it with his work being derided for the most petty of reasons (assuming the English translation of his Japanese Tweet is accurate). Plus, if there ever was a chance of a PS4 port (which was probably never the case) the current state of things likely hasn't helped.
