Tecmo Koei has some new details on Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy, and a trailer gives us more gameplay of the upcoming JRPG.

The game takes place three years after the events of the last game and, during that time, Ryza learned to become a teacher on Kurken Island. However, she is at her limit with her alchemy skills as she learned over the past 3 years. The other party members she knew from the last adventure went on their separate ways, but they extraordinarily meet up in the same place at the same time. Ryza also meets a little creature called Fi, who can't speak but is very emotive!

According to Koei Tecmo, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy's story "paints a picture in colorful brush strokes of discovering what is truly important to you."

The publisher also promises a "more dynamic adventure" with new abilities being learned as you progress through the story. This will allow you to go to new areas set in ruins, fields, and dungeons. You can also climb to reach higher areas of the map, and swim underwater for new materials and a possible entrance to a secret dungeon.

For those who played the previous game, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout, they will get the DLC outfit that Ryza originally wore. Also, if you pre-order or purchase Atelier within the first 2 weeks of release, you will get the Summer Fashion Costume Set. If you're a fan of the series and want this outfit, you might want to know that they never released the pre-order costume for the first game to everyone. It's likely they'll never fully release the Summer Fashion Costume for Atelier Ryza 2 as well.

No limited or collectors' editions have been announced as of yet, but we do know that the game will be releasing this winter for the PlayStation 4, PC (through Steam), and the Nintendo Switch. Koei Tecmo is aiming for a simultaneous release worldwide (via Nintendo Everything), which is a great trend to see for the Japanese RPG genre. Unfortunately, Xbox owners will be missing out.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy seems to be a step up from the last game with even more vivid towns, dynamic environments, and new features like mounting.

If you want to get some of Atelier's alchemy RPG flavor before Ryza 2 releases, the first game is currently 39% off on Steam until August 3.
