Chris Sanfilippo (He/Him) is an actor, singer, writer, and gaming fanatic based in New York. Career highlights include work at The Gateway Playhouse, Fireside Dinner Theatre, and 54 Below.

With TheGamer, Chris served as Lead Guide Writer for Street Fighter 6 and contributed several op-eds to TG Originals. One of Chris's favorite pieces to write was "How Video Games Address Intimacy," which analyzed the intersection between sex and gaming culture.

Chris's favorite game genres to play are fighting games, visual novels, puzzle games, and music/rhythm games. He is still waiting for a proper sequel to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

Favorite Retro Games: Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Bust A Groove, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Jet Moto, Civilization Revolution, classic Bemani games (DDR, pop'n'music, etc.), and basically every Capcom fighting game from the 90s/early 2000s.

Favorite Games From The Past Fifteen Years: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter 4, Persona Dancing (series), The Zero Escape Trilogy, Danganronpa (series), My Life As A Teenage Exocolonist, and a lot more that I can't think of.

Favorite Games This Year (2023): Street Fighter 6 (WHICH WAS SNUBBED FOR GOTY, IMHO!), Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line, Mortal Kombat 1, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Industry Focus

When I started at TG, my industry focus was guide writing. However, over the past two years, my experience has extended into lists, satire, explainers, affiliate pieces, and feature op-eds.

I write guides for various game genres. However, fighting games are my specialty. Titles I've covered include Mortal Kombat 11, Street Fighter 5, Street Fighter 6, Capcom Fighting Collection, Granblue Fantasy Versus, Guilty Gear Strive, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

My proudest gaming achievement was when I learned how to perform super combos while playing Street Fighter EX3. I was in middle school and didn't understand how quarter-circle directional movements [⬇️↘️➡️, etc.] worked. So, I got gnarly blisters on my left thumb from sliding it across my Dualshock 2's D-pad over and over again. Then, I switched to Analog control, and everything changed!
