About Jack Prince

Starting with a personal blog in 2021 and creating content for Gaming Hound UK, Jack somehow nestled himself into the role of Guides Writer for TheGamer. He's fascinated with the fantasy of Magic: The Gathering and Baldur's Gate, regales in the history of his previous Civilization and Paradox runs and laments every missed shot in Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch 2.

Jack wants to try as many games as possible to become a true Jack-of-all-trades. Whether it's grand strategy or grand larceny, Faster-than-light, farming delight or shoot on sight. His other main interests include Outside Xbox, Outside Xtra, and Oxventure (we asked him for three other interests, but he got upset, said something about a money lake, and left).

Sourced, bottled, and packaged in West Yorkshire, UK, this free-range freelancer has been raised on a steady diet of gaming, music, and chocolate — especially chocolate. Despite being a rare drop, you're most likely to find Jack scouring through his nearest video game store, a local Ben & Jerry's retailer, or counting coins in the vague hope of going to more video game expositions.

Industry Focus

While currently focused on fantasy titles such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Magic: The Gathering, Jack has a wide range of interests - be it a AAA blockbuster or an indie darling.

Outside of gaming, Jack has done various local news pieces around West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. plus is currently awaiting his NCTJ pending shorthand.

 

Favorite Games

Tough question! In recent memory, Jack would have to say either Red Dead Redemption 2 for the personal quality to him given that he played it during the COVID lockdowns, between the passing of the family dog and his grandfather. An honourable mention must be given to Road 96. The visuals, writing, and gameplay are fantastic, but the soundtrack alone is magical - Sonya's Limo is a jam!

If we're talking about all-time greats, Portal takes the top spot for Jack. It's an exciting, tight, witty, and simply enthralling masterstroke that managed to launch one of the best sequels we've seen - the only problem is there's only one sequel...

But if we're talking nostalgia, Jack will always have a soft spot for the high-pitched beeping, Wild Dog-toting, polygonal glory of Time Crisis - ACTION!!!

Proudest Gaming Achievement

Jack thinks it'd have to be a two-way tie between escaping the planet in RimWorld (rest in peace Duck Force Alpha) or completing the Company of Heroes 2 campaign on General difficulty. But who knows what the future holds...
