Let’s be real. Currently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot of films, with plenty more on the way. There are so many films out there that it may be difficult for newer fans to keep track of each main character and the villains they fight. And don’t forget about all the love interests, best friends, family members, and other random side characters.

If you don’t think that you’re familiar with all the Marvel movies that are currently out, it would probably be a bad idea on your part to go see Avengers: Infinity War. And heck, if you haven’t even seen the first two Avengers films, why even try going to see it in theaters? Infinity War has major hype behind it for a lot of reasons. It’s a Marvel movie. And the majority of their movies are pretty good, even if at times, they tend to stray from the original material.

Speaking of dreams, I know there are plenty of fans out there who wish that different actors and actresses would have portrayed their favorite characters instead of who is currently in the role. That is why fan castings exist. So today, we’re going to look at some of these and discuss what might actually be better than the movies and others that probably would never happen. Just bear in mind that this is all opinion. Robert Downey Jr. will forever and always be Iron Man. That is all.

20 Yes, Please: Supernaturally Perfect

via 9Gag

Don’t get me wrong. I think Chris Evans is perfect as Captain America. But what if one day, Evans was offered back his role as the Human Torch and he chose it over Captain? Who could possibly replace him? There are many options, but one that stuck out to me was Jensen Ackles of Supernatural fame.

I feel like a lot of people can’t imagine Dean Winchester as Captain America, but it’s an interesting possibility to consider.

This photoshopped version does look pretty fantastic, and it’s honestly kind of scary how similar he looks to Chris in this picture. Now, I know there are probably diehards on both ends who want Captain America and Dean to stay exactly as they are. But hey. This is an interesting option.

19 I’ll Pass: I'll Be Blunt, No

via DeviantArt (ImperioAvis)

Emily Blunt is an extremely talented actress. She has won many awards because of the wide variety of movies she’s been in. On top of that, she can sing. Is there anything she can’t do? Sure, she could easily portray a Marvel superhero, but I just can’t see her in the role of Black Widow.

Personally, I think that Scarlett Johansson was made for the role, and I’m just anxiously waiting for the character to get her own film. This Photoshop casting looks fine, but Johansson just is Black Widow to me. Maybe if Blunt were the actress that played the character that would change my mind, but Scarlett will forever and always be Natasha to me. Perhaps Emily could play a different role in the Marvel universe.

18 Yes, Please: A Titanic Upgrade

via Digital Spy

Now before you say anything in protest, hear me out. Imagine Leo DiCaprio when he was in Titanic or even better, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. At that point, he could’ve easily pulled off Peter Parker, but of course, this was a few years before Marvel movies were as popular as they are now.

This really isn’t the greatest Photoshop fan casting since it’s an older version of DiCaprio, but I could see a younger version of him actually being Spider-Man. He’s a very talented actor, and no matter what woman portrayed Mary-Jane Watson, he’d be able to create the perfect amount of chemistry with her. I mean, not to be that person, but Kate Winslet, anyone? No? We think they'd do fantastic together.

17 I’ll Pass: No Brotherly Love Here

via CinemaBlend

I honestly find it difficult to imagine anyone other than Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston portraying Thor and Loki. They’re just so perfect for the roles, and I don’t think any relatives could even replace them. And yes, that goes for the Hemsworth brothers. Liam, I’m sorry. Maybe you could find another Marvel character to be?

Chris just fits the character of Thor. He’s got the broad shoulders, strong muscles, and a deep voice. Yes, I understand they’re both Australian. But Chris’s voice can just hit a deeper range than Liam’s can, and I feel like that’s really important when you’re portraying the son of Odin. So I just can’t see Chris’s younger brother in the role. It’s too weird to even think about.

16 Yes, Please: Not Even Zombies Could Stop Her

via DeviantArt (xLexieRusso2)

Now I know I was saying early that I can’t see Scarlett Johansson being replaced by anybody. I really can’t. However, if for some reason Scarlett had to step down from the role, I would be okay with Milla Jovovich stepping in and taking her place. I mean, it would make fans of the Resident Evil movies happy, right?

Besides, after seeing at least one Resident Evil movie, you’d understand just how accurate this really is. We’re so accustomed to seeing Jovovich posing with guns already that this just fits. It works really well, and I would be okay with Jovovich portraying Black Widow. However, I still think Scarlett is the best choice and it would take a lot to fill those incredible shoes.

15 I’ll Pass: 50 Shades Of Red

via: pinterest.com

You know how people tend to always look at an actor or actress and say, “Oh, that’s [insert character name] from [insert movie name]?” It’s honestly force of habit. That’s how I look at Robert Downey Jr. and say, “It’s Tony Stark!” or Jamie Dornan and say, “It’s that one guy from Fifty Shades!”

And yes, I know the character’s name is Christian Grey. I’m not that uncultured. But I did see someone say that he would make a perfect Iron Man. I hate to say this, but since I can never un-see Dornan as Mr. Grey, I will never see him as Iron Man. Besides, why bother replacing the majestic beauty that is Robert Downey Jr.? There are few people (if any) that can capture Tony Stark's smugness like RDJ can.

14 Yes, Please: He'd Be Perfect

via io9-Gizmodo

So we’ve had Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland play Spider-Man. And out of all those actors, I think we’d all agree that Holland is the best fit for the role. However, where is a portrayal of fan-favorite Miles Morales when we need him? That would be something I’d love to see.

Comic book fans are familiar with the character of Morales, as he’s the one to step into the role of Spider-Man after the demise of Peter Parker.

I think Donald Glover would be perfect as Morales, although I feel like some fans might disagree with that because of his age. But have you seen how he looks? I don’t think Glover being in his 30s is going to affect anything. He still looks incredibly youthful.

13 I’ll Pass: She's Too Good At Being Bad

via Imgur

Eva Green is a gorgeous actress and I think she does well in every role she steps into. However, I feel like she’s one of those people who’s meant to always portray evil, more sadistic characters. Have you seen the 2012 film revival of Dark Shadows? Or 300: Rise of an Empire? She just is so good as those characters that I can’t really imagine her as Scarlet Witch.

I feel like Elizabeth Olsen was meant to play Scarlet Witch. As far as the cinematic universe goes, there’s still so much that hasn’t been seen with Wanda Maximoff’s character yet, and I feel that Olsen just does a great job of portraying her. I mean, think about the chemistry she has with Paul Bettany. Can you imagine Eva Green in her place?

12 Yes, Please: A Doctor Of A Different Kind

via SocImage

Again, I feel like Benedict Cumberbatch does a great job as Stephen Strange. He just brought so much to the role, and I’m excited to see future productions involving Doctor Strange. However, what if another well-known doctor was in the role instead?

Sure, Doctor House is pretty rough around the edges, but I feel like Hugh Laurie would be perfect as the character.

After seeing his talent in House, I think Laurie would be interesting to see as this superhero. Maybe he shouldn’t be as misanthropic and somewhat awful as he is in the House television series. But just even seeing him Photoshopped here as the character is exciting to see and I appreciate it. He really looks like he fits the character style well.

11 I’ll Pass: Not Pining Over This One

via: pinterest.com

If you’re only familiar with Hawkeye through the Avengers films, then you probably don’t know a lot about him. To this day, we’re all still waiting for a movie that will feature just Hawkeye and finally tell fans about his story. Jeremy Renner is great as Hawkeye and he put a lot of physical work into the role. He even practiced archery to understand Clint Barton’s abilities.

However, I just can’t see someone like Chris Pine in a role like this. I don’t know what it is about him, but I’ve always viewed him as one of those charming and dashing actors that doesn’t like to get their hands dirty. There’s a big difference between ruggedly handsome and dashingly handsome, after all.

10 Yes, Please: Here He Is Again

via warpedfactor.com

Man, you all are probably thinking that I’m a huge Supernatural fan since this is the second time I’ve mentioned Jensen Ackles. But if I’m being completely honest, I’ve never seen a single episode of the show before. So there’s that. And after seeing this pic comparing Jeremy and Jensen, you just might agree that Dean Winchester really looks like Hawkeye.

First, whoever did this awesome Photoshop work deserves a round of applause, because this is fantastic.

Second, I think Jensen would be great in the role. I’m not really sure he could top Jeremy Renner, but he’s a very close second. Ackles has a pretty similar body build to Renner, so I think he’d be an excellent replacement if Renner were to drop the character for some reason.

9 I’ll Pass: Use The Force

via Nerd Reactor

Once again, it’s one of those casting moments where Ewan McGregor will always be that actor I look at and say, “Well, that’s Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars!” No matter what other roles he might take on, that’s who I’m always going to see him as. And of course, that means I can’t imagine him portraying Ant-Man.

I feel like Paul Rudd is the only person who can play Ant-Man because of his personality. He just fits the role really well, and he put a lot of work into fitting the character, including, of course, plenty of physical activity. So I can’t see anybody stepping into that suit, not even Obi-Wan, I mean, Ewan McGregor. He really doesn't seem to fit the character very well either.

8 Yes, Please: He's A Superhero Veteran

via Slash Film

Believe it or not, this is a rendition of what Jason Momoa would look like if he were cast as Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy. It might take some very close studying of this picture, but if you look closely at the face, you can easily tell it’s Momoa. Sure, he might be well-known for his role as DC Comics character Aquaman.

But wouldn’t it be cool to see him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Don’t get me wrong. I think Dave Bautista is great as Drax. It surprised me how much a former wrestler got so into character, making Drax one of my favorite MCU characters. But I think it’d be very interesting to see Jason as Drax, too.

7 I’ll Pass: RDJ Forever!

via DeviantArt (RobertTheComicWriter)

Need I once again remind you all that Robert Downey Jr. is the best actor to portray Iron Man and no one can take his place? Not even Colin Farrell? Sure, I find him to be quite dashing, but I don’t see him being Iron Man. The role of Iron Man just feels like something that the gods looked at and said, “This is the reason why Robert Downey Jr. will be born.”

Colin Farrell just seems like somebody who’s been in a variety of character roles. And to me, he’s a fan favorite with Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts fans. But I just can’t see him as Tony Stark. Robert Downey Jr. just is Mr. Stark. He just is. He is Iron Man.

6 Yes, Please: He's Fought Aliens Before

via screengeek.com

To me, Will Smith is an ideal actor because he’s absolutely perfect in every single role he’s been in. Let’s rescue him from the DC Comics movie universe from his role as Deadshot in Suicide Squad. Why wouldn’t he make the perfect Captain America? I know some out there will say something along the lines of, “He doesn’t handle his roles seriously, so he can’t be the captain!” Or there’ll be a really stupid comment about his race.

I do think that Chris Evans is just fine where he is. But at the same time, I’m glad that there’s a lot of great potential replacements for him should the role of Human Torch call to him more. Will has experience too. He's used to fighting aliens!

5 I’ll Pass: If Tim Burton Made The Hulk

via ScreenCrush

Yes, this Photoshopped version exists. May you not have nightmares. Anyway, Johnny Depp is my favorite actor. To me, he’s literally the king of acting and he can handle any role that somebody suggests to him. However, it’s hard for me to imagine Captain Jack Sparrow as The Incredible Hulk.

I feel like Depp would handle this role in a weird way, and as much as I adore his work, I don’t really see that working for The Hulk.

Personally, I like Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. He does a great job of being both Bruce and Hulk, so I don’t really see a need for change, even if my favorite actor is involved. I don't feel like Johnny would bring the same zest to the role.

4 Yes, Please: Magic Mike: Avengers Edition

via: twitter.com

I know that at this point, it probably sounds like I’m obsessed with Captain America. But I found a lot of interesting fan castings for the character that I thought were worth mentioning. For some reason, to me, Channing Tatum looks similar to Chris Evans. By no means are they identical. However, I could see Tatum as the Captain.

He just seems like he has a great personality that would work perfectly for the role. Just don’t try and picture Captain America being a dancer from Magic Mike and you’re all set! Unless, of course, you enjoy seeing your favorite superheroes shirtless. In which case, you might be in luck if Channing Tatum were to take over the role someday.

3 I’ll Pass: Cruising Right On By

via Digital Spy

Don’t worry. This will be my last reminder of how Robert Downey Jr. can never be replaced as Iron Man. He’s just way too perfect in the role. He is Iron Man. No matter what actor you suggest to me, I don’t think anyone could replace him. And yes, that goes for Johnny Depp, too.

Sure, Tom Cruise is a talented guy, and he’s been in plenty of action movies to prove his physical prowess. But how could anyone possibly replace our Iron Man? Downey Jr. is just too good at what he does, so why try replacing him? He’s far too majestic and graceful to be replaced. I’m also kind of biased because I don’t really find Tom Cruise to be that attractive, so.

2 Yes, Please: Storm On The Horizon

via Atlanta Black Star

Yes, I am fully aware that none of the X-Men have made it into an Avengers film yet, but I’m sure it’ll eventually happen. And after seeing this gorgeous picture of Lupita Nyong’o, I just cannot stop imagining her as Storm. I mean, look at her. She’s the epitome of grace and fierceness rolled into one.

Sure, I wish more would be done with the X-Men series, but unfortunately, it’s not nearly as popular as it should be. Personally, I think Lupita Nyong’o would be perfect as Storm because she has a lot of talent. And besides, she really does look almost like the comic book character. Give me what I want, Marvel! Please? Make this crossover happen. You know it's what the fans really want!

1 I’ll Pass: Needs More Cowbell

Speaking of strange, this is probably the strangest fan casting I’ve seen yet. To me, Will Ferrell just seems like an actor who’s always in comedic films. So imagining him in a role as serious as Stephen Strange is very weird to me. How about we just leave Will Ferrell in Elf or Zoolander and go from there? This Photoshop work is fantastic. I’ll give the artist that.

But it just seems out of character for Ferrell to portray any comic book character. If anything, maybe The Riddler from DC Comics, but even that seems like a stretch. Regardless, I still really like Benedict Cumberbatch in the role, so let’s not change that anytime soon. Maybe a Doctor Strange spoof is on the horizon. In that case, definitely give Will a call.
