This year's Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) has been one to remember. As we reported earlier this week, it broke the record for the fastest $1 million raised in the event's decade-long history. Now, it's only gone and done it again, with the speedrunning community coming together to raise $2 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

The announcement comes while the event is still live, with the better part of a day to go until it ends. There's still plenty of time to tune in if you haven't already, as the organizers keep aiming high and hope to raise even more by the time it wraps up tomorrow at around 5:15am GMT.

"So far we've had multiple new world record runs, amazing prizes and incentives, hilarious commentary from runners, commentators and hosts, the fastest ever half Million, 1 Million, 1.5 Million", said Reddit user Thorebane, who keeps track of GDQ stats. "And now we've just hit - 2 MILLION DOLLARS RAISED in record time! Congratulations guys!"

"We still have a good few hours to go, and judging on the record breaking amount so far by this point AND the amount of subs / bits that have yet to be added to the total, I'm pretty confident that we'll hit at LEAST 2.5 million from all that".

GDQ's director of operations Matt Merkle previously spoke to TheGamer about AGDQ 2022's immense success. "I'm incredibly happy with the support we've received thus far, and itching to see how far it goes", he said. "Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it's all for a great cause".

The total amount of donations sits at $2,084,007 at the time of writing.
