Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2022 kicks off tomorrow, hosting speedruns of pretty much every game you can think of. Everything from recent triple-A hits, such as Deathloop and Psychonauts 2, and wild cult classics like the Zelda CD-i games, GeoGuessr and Sonic R will be under the spotlight at the show.

As usual, the event is in aid of raising money for charity. Like previous years, the community is fundraising for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, having already donated a staggering $2,776,053 for the charity in 2021.

The list of games included in the speedrunning event is far too long to go over here in full, so here's some of the more eye-catching recent game showcase planned for the week:

  • Deathloop
  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Returnal
  • It Takes Two

But of course, AGDQ will also feature some more niche titles, particularly older games that you don't often see in the speedrunning scene. These include:

  • The Simpsons: Bart's House of Weirdness
  • Stardew Valley
  • Zelda's Adventure
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II
  • Final Fantasy 13

Unsurprisingly, it's another virtual GDQ event. The organizers had previously expressed an interest in holding it in person, or at least having some kind of physical audience, but the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 extinguished those hopes. Despite this, there will be no shortage of shows to enjoy, and if last year's events are anything to go by, plenty of money will still be raised for a good cause.

Since premiering in 2010, GDQ's various events have raised a total of more than $34 million for charities such as AbleGamers, Organization for Autism Research, and Doctors Without Borders. While the pandemic has created obstacles, stalling the upward trajectory of donations each year, it hasn't stopped them from raising millions for the various causes.

AGDQ 2022 kicks off tomorrow, January 9. 4:30 PM GMT, wrapping up 5:13 AM GMT, January 16. You can watch it over on the official Twitch channel.
