Star Wars, a name that almost everyone is familiar with on some level, whether its Darth Vader or lightsaber duels. When the first movie of the franchise came out back in 1977, it quickly became one of the most famous and technologically advanced movies of its time. Despite all of this, however, the game had a pretty rough launch because of how microtransactions were being handled in the game and a large number of people ended up canceling their pre-orders. Since then, the game has received a lot of negative reviews all over the internet but we’re here to tell you that all is not bad. In what is probably the biggest video game story of 2017, gamers decided that they have now had enough of video game companies and their schemes to make money. The concept of loot boxes and microtransactions has always been a topic of debate but there was never such a backlash from the gaming community before.

On Reddit, EA’s post became one of the most downvoted posts in the history of the website, showing exactly how angry gamers with. This also resulted in the cancellations of a large number of pre-orders which forced EA to take a new course of action and remove microtransactions altogether. This is quite some good news actually and while the system is bound to return in the future in some other form, it is not around for now.

Since the game is set throughout numerous locations across all the different eras of Star Wars, it makes sense to add new heroes and villains as well, especially with the introduction of newer characters in the movie universe.

Players have a multitude of options to choose from when deciding on a hero or a villain. Battlefront 2 offers quite a few spacecraft options to choose from. For those of you looking for something practical and stable with enough seating capacity to carry both pilot and gunner into battle, look no further. While the Cloud Car may not be as decorative or powerful as the other Starships such as the Millennium Falcon, it still has twin engines and sturdy weapons.

It also has a few fancy tricks up its sleeve like thermal cooling to stop its guns from overheating and turbo in case you need to make a quick escape and the option to fly slower if the need arises. All these specifications combined make the Cloud Car a good offense ship that will fit into your battle strategy against an enemy that outnumbers you.

22 Experience Things From the Perspective Of The Empire

One of the biggest issues that people had with the previous iteration of Battlefront was that it lacked any sort of meaningful campaign. Most of it involved killing hordes of enemies without any real objectives, something that got repetitive very fast.

The guys over at EA decided to address this issue and include a complete campaign this time around. While the movies have always focused on the rebel side of things, the game takes a totally different approach by showcasing events from the perspective of the Empire. Players take control as Iden Versio, commander of the Empire’s Inferno Squad. The story was co-written by Walt Williams, the same author who worked on another well-known title, Spec Ops: The Line. While the campaign might be a bit short, lasting somewhere around 7 hours, it is still quite fun and definitely worth playing if you’re a Star Wars fan.

21 Enjoy The Han And Lando Banter During The Missions

While the entire Star Wars franchise is filled up with some of the most iconic characters ever developed, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian are one of the few that take the spotlight, especially since both the characters have quite a history.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 also features missions from the perspective of characters other than Versio during the campaign of the game. One of the most notable ones here are the missions that feature Han Solo and Lando. Both of the characters don’t hold back on any of their classic banter and it’s actually pretty fun to hear some of the comments that they have for the NPCs in the game or for each other. There is a lot of blaster action here and these easily ended up being one of our favorite missions in the game.

20 The Campaign Story Is Canon To The Star Wars Universe

A lot of things changed when Disney decided to acquire Lucasfilm back in October 2012. One of the biggest, however, was the fact that the expanded universe would no longer be canon. This basically meant that 30 years of publications, games, and cartoons were suddenly no longer part of the official Star Wars universe.

Instead, only the Star Wars movies were to be considered canon along with any that would be released in the future. Since the first Battlefront didn’t have a campaign, this whole thing didn’t really matter but this time around it does, especially since the campaign intends to show the story from the Empire’s perspective. Luckily, the campaign story for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is part of the official Star Wars universe which is also quite evident from a number of easter eggs that can be found in the game.

19 Experience All The Major Eras Of Star Wars

The universe of Star Wars has been divided into multiple eras, with different events taking place in each of them. Fans who are familiar with these usually don’t have much trouble recognizing some of the most famous locations like Hoth or Mustafar.

The number of locations that have been made a part of Battlefront 2 belong to three major eras of the franchise. Players can experience 18 different locations and some of the new locations feature the capital of Naboo, Theed; Yavin IV, the Starkiller base, and Takodana. The excellent visuals of the game ensure that you get to experience all of these locations in their complete glory while battling Battledroids and Rebels regardless of whether it is the campaign or multiplayer.

18 Battle It Out In The Galactic Assault Mode

One of the things about Star Wars that really stands out is the scale of the battles that take place during the movies. Take the battle of Hoth for example, where you had some of the most amazing action and it truly showed the scale on which the battle was taking place.

With Star Wars: Battlefront 2, the developers intended on delivering a very similar experience with something called the Galactic Assault mode. It is a battle which involves 40 different players and the concept behind it is quite similar to that of the Operations mode in Battlefield 1. The task of the attacking team here is to complete a certain set of objectives while the defending team’s job is to, well, defend those objectives. Different maps come with different objectives such as escorting a transport or disabling security systems before moving any further.

17 Wanted To Fly The Millennium Falcon? Now You Can

Perhaps one of the most exciting modes to be included in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is the Starfighter Assault mode. Another big complain that a lot of players had with the previous game was the lack of space combat, something that Star Wars is famous for and what made the original Battlefront games successful.

When playing in this mode, players get to battle it out in space with a number of objectives that need to be completed. Here you can command a number of vehicles including the famous Millennium Falcon. Players can engage in some intense dogfights while also trying to destroy enemy equipment such as reactors and shield generators which are presented as the objectives. Getting a chance to fly one of the most iconic spaceships is something you shouldn’t miss.

16 Choose From A Variety Of Playable Classes

Unlike the previous games, players now get a choice between four new classes when they decide to spawn inside a match. Most of you might be familiar with this concept already from some of the other first-person shooters out there such as Call of Duty.

The Assault class is your average rebel soldier or Stormtrooper that is good under almost any circumstance while the Heavy troopers carry some of the more powerful weapons around along with the shield which slows them down a little. Gone are the blue tokens which you had to wait around for in order to play as one of the heroes or unlock a vehicle during multiplayer gameplay. A big problem with the token system was the players would usually camp around the areas where the tokens would spawn, meaning that you had a very little chance of getting your hands on one.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 fixes this with the introduction of Battle Points which can now be earned throughout the game by completing different tasks and objectives during both the campaign and multiplayer. Once you have enough Battle Points, you can use them to unlock heroes and vehicles which can be accessed during the game. This way, everyone gets a chance to play around as some of the most powerful characters in the game instead of a select few.

Good graphics are simply a must for any game nowadays, especially for the AAA titles since it is one of the major selling points. Look, we understand that the saying about how a story matters more than the graphics holds true but in the age of powerful devices capable of producing 4K outputs, lackluster graphics simply cannot be ignored.

The visual quality is something that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 simply excels at and it has to be one of the most visually stunning games around right now. The variety of locations offered basically ensures that you get to experience them even better than when they were shown in the movies. One of our favorite locations has to be the forest of Endor where the detail is simply mesmerizing and will surely leave you in awe.

13 Conquer Multiplayer With You Squad

The concept of squads has been implemented in the Battlefield games for quite some time now and it is actually a very fun way to play the game, making it more interesting while providing some extra points as well.

The guys over at EA have decided to implement something similar in Battlefront 2 as well. Now, granted that the system might not be as effective as the one in Battlefield, with a lot of options missing in fact, it is still quite fun and can help you earn some extra and easy points while you’re at it, since who doesn’t want those. All you need to do is mark objectives or follow orders and you’ll be on your way to conquering multiplayer along with your squad.

12 Battlefront 1? Forget That Ever Happened

Back when it was announced that EA had decided to make a new Battlefront game, the fans of Star Wars and everyone who had played the original Battlefront games got pretty hype, however, the game that we finally received was far from perfect.

While the multiplayer did manage to ensure that players kept coming back to the game, the campaign, on the other hand, was a complete disaster. Even the multiplayer had a lot of things that needed to be fixed. Thankfully, the developers decided to address all of these issues in the Battlefront 2 which is why now we have a complete campaign and improved multiplayer. So, if you were disappointed with Battlefront 1 then you should consider getting Battlefront 2, especially since the microtransactions are no longer there, which brings us to our next point.

11 Hate Run And Gun? Try Strike Mode

Let’s be honest here, a large part of the Battlefront experience involves running around and shooting at your targets, meaning that there is almost little to no strategy involved. This is your tradition run and gun type of deal like Call of Duty and not something like Battlefield which requires a bit more work.

However, what are you to do if you get tired of all the fast action? Well, luckily there is also a Strike mode as well. This mode involves a bit more strategy rather than just running around and shooting people. Unlike the Galactic Assault mode, Strike mode put two teams consisting of 6 players against each other where a certain objective is given. The rest of the concept is similar where one team attacks while the other defends and the attacking team has a limited number of respawns to achieve then objective in.

10 Use The Unique Abilities Of All Your Characters

While it is important to learn about classes to ensure that you end up choosing a class that you’re really comfortable with, it is also important to be aware of the numerous abilities that your characters have, some more useful than others.

Simply running around and shooting at your enemies won’t give you the advantage that other players will have over you just because of the special abilities. These can also help out your teammates during the heat of the battle, a good example of which is the shield that can be put up by the heavy gunner which can be used as cover by the other teammates. One thing that should be kept in mind is that you can’t spam these since they’re on a cooldown timer to ensure fair play but the abilities don’t take long to refill and can be used again when ready.

9 Fight A Thousand Rebels As Kylo Ren

We all saw just how badass Kylo Ren was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, especially with that whole stopping the blaster bolt deal. While that exact feat cannot be achieved in the game, there is something else that can be done in its place.

The Arcade mode in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 allows you to do basically whatever you want. You can spawn a number of AI enemies, as many as you like in fact and then set up your loadout and difficulty before taking on all of them. One of the things that you can do is spawn a thousand rebels or Stormtroopers and then fight them as Kylo Ren. This would definitely be epic to see in one of the movies, however, we don’t think that it’ll ever happen. You can do it on your own though and have plenty of fun while you’re at it.

8 Enjoy Your Own Laser Show With Weapons And Light Sabers

To make the gaming experience even more immersive, Battlefront 2 put in a lot of effort in perfecting the laser weapons and lightsabers. This means that when battles become aggressive, it can be frustrating to identify and overpower a specific target with the light show of weapons and lightsabers scattered around you in every possible direction.

If that isn’t enough to geek you out, add the impressive and overwhelming collection of various realistic sounds, explosions, and impacts. It’s the perfect combination of audio and visuals for hardcore fans and enthusiasts. If you dare to enjoy your own laser show in the line of fire, just make sure you’re adequately shielded from any snipers.

7 Battle Points Not Enough? Run Arcade Mode To Play As Heroes

With the end of the blue token system and the introduction of Battle Points, a lot of mechanics in the game have been changed. While the newer system is definitely better than the older one, it also means that you won’t get to play as any of your favorite heroes unless you have a specific amount of Battle Point.

So, what if you want to experience some hero gameplay but don’t have enough Battle Points? Well, that is where Arcade mode comes t the rescue once again. You can simply choose the hero you’d like to play with, spawn some AI enemies and take on them to your heart’s desire. This will also allow you to experience the abilities and mechanics of each character before you use them out in multiplayer.

6 The Lava Can’t Bring Me No Harm

Not many games can boast about lava-proof vehicles, or at least vehicles capable enough of buying you time to escape should you accidentally step into an active lava site. Battlefront 2 campaign includes visiting such a site on the planet Sullust.

The weapons factory you visit is located next to a volcano, and after fighting off a few Stormtroopers you attempt to escape in an AT-RT across this fully charged lava land. Now, the vehicle isn’t built to keep you alive forever once you enter these fiery hot pits, but it will provide you enough safety to quickly pass over the terrain and wipe out the Stormtroopers that try to stop you. The AT-RT is easy to maneuver which makes it an excellent vehicle to escape in from the erupting volcano and to avoid being killed directly.
