What have you been up to these past few days? If you are reading this article, it is likely that a large chunk of it has been spent leveling up on the beaches of Normandy. Call of Duty: WWII mania is in full effect, and gamers are scouring the game to grab any extra XP, up their weapons class, or just bulldoze people on multiplayer. This game is meant to be an updated version of the throwback World At War, but it does have some new tricks up its sleeves that players have not seen before.

Call of Duty: WWII is the franchise’s attempt to travel back to the period that made it a star. Before the “No Russian,” incident and way before players used jetpacks to fly through the air (was this really needed?), there was Call of Duty, a game that brought to life the realities of war to gamers. Sometimes you have to travel backward to continue to move forward, and Call of Duty: WWII does this well. However, all is not old and nostalgic about this game. There are new features for gamers to exploit to take care of enemies.

From incorporating vintage guns to including a style that involves the stealth and forethought soldiers would have used during that time, WWII wants you to feel you are right in the middle of the action. So, here are 25 awesome things you had no idea you could do in Call of Duty: WWII.

25 Take Your Time With Grenades For Max Damage

via youtube.com (Josh Burns)

We talk a lot about guns in COD, and there is no denying that they are incredibly important. But let’s not forget another weapon that can do some severe damage if you plan it right. Grenades can wreck someone’s day, especially if they are not paying attention. In turn, they can give you a hard way to go as well. Here is a trick to make sure your next grenade toss is one that makes a difference and gets you some easy kills. If you hold onto a frag grenade a couple of seconds longer than usual and then toss it off a hard surface, it will detonate faster on release which should increase the impact of the explosion. You have to time this right, but the rewards will be worth it.

24 Easily Confuse Opponents

via gameranx.com

It is such a drag when you run into a building and realize you were taken out by someone lying on their stomach. You never saw it coming, and you vow to get this person back for being cheap. Sledgehammer games have made it a lot easier for people to use this trick in COD: WWII. While sprinting, if players hold down the crouch button, they can easily change their position so enemies cannot harm them, and they can also disorient the player enough to get a shot on them. You can quickly change from running a marathon to getting low and inconspicuous in a matter of seconds. COD: WWII is a game of strategic thinking, so while it may be cheap, all is fair in this war.

23 Acquire The Tesla Gun For Maximum Zombie Destruction

via youtube.com (MrDalekJD)

The mower of the undead, the particle separator, and the ultimate wonder gun; the Tesla Gun is just what the doctor ordered to take care of those pesky zombies. It can be yours in COD: WWII, but there are a few steps you must take to wield this ultimate show of power. You know COD was not going to make this easy. Through a series of multiple steps including powering a generator, activating some weird machine, and of course, killing certain zombies in various locations then players can grab the…wait…nope, there are two pieces of the gun, so players have to repeat the steps two times to complete construction of it. Alright, Sledgehammer, we get the difficulty increase for the game, but this is overkill.

22 Get Unlimited Sprint If You Are Willing To Search The Sewers

via dotesports.com

Okay, so what do we know about any horror game? It has to have a sewer level. For some reason, developers feel that creepiness is at a premium when players have to travel below ground into the filth and darkness sewers bringw with them. It seems like the correct move, as sewers are downright terrifying. Well, get ready to travel down to the underworld in Zombies to pick up some helpful blitz skills. In the sewers, players can find the Laufenblitz which increases sprint speed and allows players to run as much as they want. This is essential in zombies. The primary story mode and even multiplayer requires gamers to tone it down and keep reserved. This is the total opposite of Zombies, so get the most skills you can to destroy the undead.

21 Kill Enemies In One Hit

via ign.com

In Zombies, perks are the ultimate way to go, and there are tons players can utilize to bring the pain. The Taschen Voll refills all ammo and equipment for everyone on the team, the Vernicten perk kills all weak enemies on the map at one time, and there is even a flamethrower up for grabs. Sledgehammer pulled out all the stops to give you a leg up over the zombie horde. However, there is one perk that is so juicy; it has to be number one on your list. The Totengriff perk instantly kills enemies with one hit when the consumable is active. That means one single bullet can straight up knock out enemies immediately! Find this perk and equip it as soon as you can!

20 Smoke Will Not Hide Enemies

via reddit.com

With all the disaster and war going on, smoke will get in the way. This creates a massive problem as a person who is in a better position to see you can quickly get the drop on you. So, how can you deal with this pesky problem? The developers of COD: WWII had a long talk because there is a way to be aware if there are players beyond the smoke, even if you do have a perk enabled. While this might have been an oversight, a sniper rifle can faintly reveal the Gamertag of players through smoke, so you don’t have to have a thermal attachment to see enemies through the mist. You will not likely see their actual person, but that red Gamertag will shine brightly for you to take them out. Oh yeah! You can also see their goggles (at least in the Beta).

19 Unlock Various Zombie Characters

via youtube.com (Chucky)

Zombies is going to make you work for everything. From searching for mystery boxes and acquiring perks, there are tons of things players can work to get. The search does not stop at items; some secret characters are up for grabs. Players can unlock the Assassin, Survivalist, Mountaineer, Hunter, and B.A.T. Agent. Each has their own skills and tactical approaches. However, each is pretty difficult to get. One requires that you survive 30 waves of zombies, while another makes players save Klaus in less than 75 minutes. You will have your work cut out for it, but it is worth it. Honestly, the assassin and elite B.A.T. Agent sound amazing and like they can do some considerable damage in the right situation.

18 You Are Not Out For The Count When Down In Zombies

via dualshockers.com

The Zombies mode is tough. It always was, and it always will be. As you destroy waves of the undead, they come back stronger and more resilient than the last group. Because of this, you will die. Probably many times, but there is an ability you can use to make the deaths a little less prevalent. There is a new self-revive ability that allows players to replenish their health when they have fallen and are in danger of bleeding out. Health packs are scarce in this game, and there is no more automatic health replenishment. So, make sure you have the self-revive ability handy in these tight situations. See, this game knows it is a bit difficult and is trying to make up for it. Not sure if this is enough though.

17 Keep Track Of That Throwing Knife

via mp1st.com

Okay, we have covered a lot of annoying COD player behavior, but nothing takes the cake more than getting taken out by a throwing knife. The precision someone had to have, and your failure to keep watch over your surroundings contributed to being taken out by a knife. The punishment for this lack of awareness is really going to be felt in COD: WWII. Throwing knives are automatic kills against enemies, but the knife’s gift does not have to stop giving. Players need to make sure they keep an eye on where they went because they can be picked up and used again. Ammo and health are scarce in this game, so it is nice to have something that you do not have to worry about running out.

16 Visit The Bar For Weapon Power

via mp1st.com

Isn’t it nice that Zombies would send you to the bar for a satisfying drink? Think again, Sledgehammer is not that nice, but players can find something really valuable if they make their way into one of the pubs in Zombies. If players go to the pub in Zombies, they can pick up Kugelblitz, a perk that raises damage on all weapons. In an earlier entry, we covered some helpful perks gamers could pick up to strengthen their attack against Zombies, but this is another one players should make a priority to pick up. Each wave of zombies gets stronger, faster, and relentless. It would do you and your team well to make sure you have maximum strength on as many weapons as possible. However, it would be nice if COD allowed your character a chance for a drink, they surely need it.

15 Just Be Present For Cash

via segmentnext.com

Remember when you were in school and the teacher told you that you would receive at least 10 points for putting your name on the test? It was a pain for them to sift through tons and tons of papers and find you through a process of elimination, so they awarded you for the most mundane of tasks. Unless you were at the height of laziness, you at least had 10 points in your hip pocket. Well, COD: WWII has a similar set up for players. Gamers can log in to the game and receive extra cash to spend just by merely being there. Your presence can be the gateway to some easy pick-ups, so be sure to log-in, even if you are not planning to go on a long session.

14 Take Advantage Of Daily Challenges

via copypad.net

Sledgehammer is being so nice to COD fans. Is their offering of multiple ways to level up benevolence or is it something more sinister? Do they know that their game is crazy hard and will cause players to toss a controller across the room? Are they trying to make up for the fact that this game has decided to incorporate some of the most challenging realities of war? Whatever the case, take the (somewhat) freebies and enjoy the gifts Sledgehammer is bestowing upon you. There are daily challenges for soldier and weapon XP, and these rotate so people can pick up at least six dallies in a day to get increases of XP of up to 15 percent. Don’t say the developer of COD: WWII never offered their help.

13 Increase Your Melee When You Grab The Tesla

via youtube.com (RichDragon55)

Remember that Tesla gun we talked about? Well, players can pick up another helpful skill when the pick up the last part of the Tesla gun. If players go to Tesla gun craft table, then players can also find a per to increase melee damage. Again, we make a lot of hoopla about primary and secondary guns. It makes sense since that is what you will use to obliterate most of your enemies, but remember that COD: WWII does not like a one-trick pony. You have to be ready to put together skills that take down enemies in any way possible. This might include getting up in a zombie’s grill and going to town with nothing but your fists. This perk helps you do that in a way that could save your life if you are out of ammo.

12 Launchers Are Not The Only Kryptonite For Score Streaks

via comicbook.com

Gotta hate those pesky scorestreaks. You never know when they will turn up as a Carpet Bomber and get a little too close for comfort to cause you to respawn. In the past, the only thing that could take these airstrikes is enormous rocket launchers. A cool weapon, but also incredibly heavy and cumbersome. However, this is WWII, so aircraft seems to be a lot more fragile (which sounds like another problem entirely, but an issue left for another list). Now, you can take out these flying bomb droppers with assault rifles. This is awesome! However, be sure to keep a watch on your surroundings, while you are being a hero someone could easily sneak up from behind. Enjoy this perk, because this is one of the only things made easier about this game.

11 Be A Hero For Extra Achievements

via geforce.com

COD: WWII is not all about the grim realities of war. It is attempting to be an experience with multiple layers that give players a chance to gain points by doing some unconventional things. Players can receive achievements regarding heroic actions in three ways such as dragging a solider to safety, helping an allied soldier in hand-to-hand combat with a Nazi, and those who accept the surrender of German troops. These are things that happened in the second world war, and it is admirable that Sledgehammers decided to put these actions into the game. There are 23 opportunities for players to show loyalty to the brotherhood. So be on the lookout for ways to realize be a good Samaritan, and help your comrades in arms.

10 Wear Many Hats

via callofduty.com

COD: WWII requires you to be a jack of all trades. It is not enough to just use SMGs or assault rifles, to be successful, players have to be open to spending some time with each division to become more familiar with multiple play styles. Fighting in trenches, escorting tanks, and sniping players from high locations each require skills with different weapons and approaches to the game. It is in your benefit to be as well-rounded as possible to pass through War mode with flying colors. Again, one cannot help but think that COD: WWII took another page out of the Overwatch book, a game that emphasizes players being able to spread their playstyle around to support their team. Also, who knows, you may have to fill in for a "not-so-great" teammate.

9 Loot Boxes Can Produce Some Nice “Epic” And “Legendary’ Weapons

via kotaku.com.au

Loot boxes can be seen as a waste of time for players. They usually dish out cosmetic and superficial attachments like calling cards or emotes, but not everything from these boxes is useless. Every once and awhile, these items can bring some epic and legendary weapons with acceptable bonuses. These weapons will allow players to level up faster and pick up perks and guns more quickly. So it may seem like these loot boxes are just there to be cute, but do not ignore them, they can gradually allow you to change your game for the better. It also looks like COD: WWII has taken the emote system from Destiny II. Not sure if this is good or bad, depending upon the types of emotes they chose, we could see soldiers busting a move.

8 Use Headquarters And Contracts For Easy Ways To Level-Up

via youtube.com (NerosCinema)

Are you ready to bet on yourself? Do you think you can beat any challenge that COD: WWII brings your way? Well, the game gives you a chance to double or triple your money by betting on what you know you can do well. Can you make some headshots in a certain amount of time? Can you make an insane amount of kills? Well, challenges in Headquarters and the contracts created by the Quartermaster give players the opportunity to increase their in-game money. Players can play off both of these methods to get a lot of XP, but only take it if you know you can fulfill the contract. It is not every day that you can gamble on your ability, so take advantage of it and have a blast. If not for anything, let it be a confidence booster.

7 Be An Extrovert In COD: WWII

via reddit.com

Are you a silent but powerful introvert or an outgoing and gregarious extrovert? This question matters because COD: WII has a way for players to get more loot and XP if they are willing to be social butterflies. Players can receive supply drops or extra XP if they say hello or salute to other players in headquarters. When was COD ever this social? Regular interactions normally include some grunts, hollers, and gunshots. Outside of cutscenes and violent audio interactions between passionate gamers, COD has not encouraged a lot of positive talk. Nevertheless, its inclusion in the game mirrors gaming behemoths, Destiny 2 and Overwatch in giving players other ways to express themselves. It also does not hurt that gamers can pick up some goodies for being social.

6 Your Whole Team Can Benefit From Espionage

via forbes.com

This next point will likely be the cause for celebration or annoyance depending on the side you happen to fall on with this one. Remember how you could tell the position of someone you injured who may have gotten away? Well, this is now a component of COD: WWII, but you are not the only person who can see this. Your whole team can pick up on this person as well. It’s like sharks in an ocean at that point. This definitely has the power to become a problem in the game, considering how many times players get hit, the map will light up like a Christmas Tree with player whereabouts. The important thing is that you need to keep moving to avoid being spotted, but take advantage of the ones who are not smart enough to.
