If you've been wondering how Platinum Games' next action title Babylon's Fall is going, the developer has provided an update to its fans. According to Platinum, it's "continuing to progress well."

Both Square and PG said that they are "committed to delivering an exhilarating experience and [they] look forward to showing much more on Babylon's Fall as soon as [they] can."

Publisher Square Enix and Platinum Games were hoping to give us more of a reveal of the game over the summer, but unfortunately, all they've said is that the production is going well as their team is working at home. Perhaps, COVID-19 delayed their road map to release?

The Japanese game industry seems to be struggling with the pandemic. Nintendo, for example, had big limitations on what could done at home (via GamesRadar). The President of the company Shuntaro Furukawa and the company thought there would be "a large impact" as there wasn't a remote development environment already set up.

We have seen very little gameplay of Babylon's Fall since it's announcement at E3 2018. The 1-and-a-half minute trailer during a State of Play showcased high-octane sword combat with crazy magical abilities that grapples enemies in the air and tears them with additional fire based attacks. Square Enix promised gameplay in Summer 2020, but that will not come to pass. Maybe we'll get more info this Fall.

Other than the 2 year wait to get solid information on the title, another bad sign is that Square Enix has yet to update the game's website, which still says "More Information Next Summer." Is this game in trouble?

It's hard to believe that a Square Enix and Platinum Games production can go wrong after the release of NieR Automata. The sequel scored a high 88 MetaCritic, and many fans tried out the niche series for the first time with over 4 million copies sold. While not everyone's cup of tea, Automata had an intriguing story within a strange world. It also had the fast paced combat that you'd expect from a Platinum game. You also have Automata to thank for saving the developer after the cancellation of Scalebound and a multitude of licensed games like The Legend of Korra.
