From the studio that brought you Left 4 Dead, spiritual successor Back 4 Blood has now taken over the zombie survival category. Selecting from a possible eight characters, you’ll have a wide range of skills and costumes to pick from throughout the game. Even while fighting off mutated zombies, you don’t want to look like every other player in PvP.

The variety of character personalities makes choosing an outfit a difficult choice, you want to represent their character while pleasing your eyes. Luckily, Back 4 Blood has multiple outfits for all eight characters, a buffet for those that want the full wardrobe. Most of the worthwhile outfits will take some grinding, pushing you to the limits of your skill and making you better for it. These are the best.

7 Evangelo - Zwat

Evangelo Zwat outfit

The ZWAT outfit provides all the intimidating looks you could want, turning Evangelo's already imposing frame into a tactical soldier. The six magazines outlining his chest in combination with the padded armor offsets his lighthearted, and naive personality, bringing him in line with the more serious characters available.

ZWAT gear is not easy to come by for any character, since it's only available after you complete the campaign on Nightmare difficulty. Anyone who has tried Nightmare will know that even the most experienced players struggle to find a way to survive, but the ZWAT aesthetic is enough to keep trying.

6 Walker- Battle Hardened

battle hardened outfit - walker

The quiet but deadly veteran, Walker, needs an outfit that says he means business. Even the name of the outfit describes the character to a tee, leading the team and using his advanced combat skills along the way. Fully loaded body armor is always a good look, especially when you’re fighting off zombie hordes in the apocalypse.

The Battle Hardened outfits come only with the Ultimate Edition of Back 4 Blood, hiding this look behind a paywall. However, if you have the Xbox Game Pass you can download the Battle Hardened Bundle by equipping an exclusive perk, giving you four versions of the outfit with weapons skins.

5 Mom- Battle Hardened

battle hardened outfit

She might not be the most loving mom in the world, but she’s definitely the best support when it counts. A cross between biker and mercenary, Battle Hardened highlights her tough nature, even facing an army of Ridden. She'll need all that storage area when things get ugly, jumping from teammate to teammate with a different assist for each.

From extra lives to pain meds, mom helps every member of the team in one way or another, her traits bring every level of combat support to the group. As the map progresses, mom’s abilities will get more and more important, saving the situation when things don’t go according to plan.

4 Doc - Clinical Killer

Moving away from the obvious style, Doc’s medical lab coat and peculiar design stands out among the heavy duty tactical gear. The custom colors that Clinical Killer brings to the table not only match her purple gloves, it creates a unique outfit without playing down her critical role to the team.

The only way to unlock Clinical Killer is to play over 250 missions as Doc, proving your dedication to the character and advancing your skills at the same time. Doc might not have the firepower other characters have but she’s one of the major pieces to a successful team.

3 Karlee - Punk's Not Dead

Punks Not Dead Outfit

As close as we get to a lone wolf, Karlee looks out for number one. Her blunt personality matches the abrasive outfit that comes with it, taking the punk rock era into the apocalypse. Leather jackets and spikes rarely disappoint, especially when they’re blended with a powerful color combination.

Impressive movement speed and the ability to sense nearby danger, Karlee makes for the perfect scout. Pushing forward in the front line while marking enemies and taking out easy prey. Knowing when trouble is coming makes it easy to get out of the way and report back to the team, adding a whole new layer of battlefield awareness.

2 Jim - Backwoods Blaze

The precision hunter of the group, Jim’s extensive knowledge and marksmanship can become a lethal weapon in mid-long range combat. Backwoods Blaze captures the competent outdoorsman look without falling into redneck territory, put together and reliable, his shots only get more powerful as the game goes on.

Another case of 250 missions getting the job done, Jim’s attributes are a lot easier to learn and stick with than most. Even though you can go directly into the line of fire with the other melee builds, long shots with precision gradually build damage until you’re firing a cannon. Proving his worth up front or from afar, Jim can also scout ahead mark enemies while unnoticed.

1 Total Apocalypse

Apocalypse outfit

The Total Apocalypse outfit is the most visually impressive outfit in the game so far, taking the already bold fashion sense that Back 4 Blood presents and turning it up to level ten. The character you dress up will look like something out of Mad Max, even if you choose Hoffman.

Following the supply lines and completing the tasks will get you certain pieces of Total Apocalypse, forcing you to rack up supply points in every line to complete the look. Each line has a different theme and follows a reward path, giving you a clear route to any or all of the outfit.
