It’s less than 30 days until Back 4 Blood launches, and the team at Turtle Rock offered a glimpse at the title’s story campaign and its narrative elements.

Story mode isn't as straightforward in Back 4 Blood as it is in other games, yet the team showed off it’s got a few surprises for you — and even traditional cutscenes to keep the action and story moving forward. You’ll also get to play the story campaign’s increasingly challenging missions in four-player co-op or go at it solo.

Another notable thing from the brand-new trailer is an unknown giant infected biomass the size of a building (Resident Evil, eh?) which is presumably some kind of final boss. If you weren’t impressed with the title’s plus-size special Ridden known as the Ogre, the full game might get you some more enemy variations for every taste.

Finally, there’s survivor leader Mom – who is brought to life by iconic horror star Barbara Crampton, known for You’re Next, Re-Animator, Body Double, The Lords of Salem, and many more. Back 4 Blood will be the actress’s first time ever voicing a character in a video game.

As earlier reported, Back 4 Blood has already officially gone gold — two months prior to its launch date on October 12. This means no more delays for the co-op zombie shooter, unlike some of its competitors, such as Dying Light 2, which just recently got postponed to February next year.

After its impressive beta that hosted more than 5.6 million players across all platforms, the developers had plenty of feedback on how to make Back 4 Blood the best zombie game of 2021. On Steam, the beta reached an impressive milestone of over 120,000 concurrent players, showing some notable excitement among fans of the Left 4 Dead series.

Back 4 Blood will be launching across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC with full crossplay support, and will be also available via Game Pass for both consoles and PC on day one.
