Back 4 Blood is more than your standard horror FPS game. Wipe away the Reeker guts, and you have a customizable, layered, narrative-driven action adventure through a fictional Pennsylvanian town, now on the brink of destruction following a nationwide epidemic. We're talking zombies, of course.

Gruff hunter Jim is one of the Cleaners you can play as during your many runs out beyond Fort Hope, rescuing survivors and taking back territory from the Ridden. Fans of sniping will find lots to love about Jim, so here's how to build a bone-crunching deck that'll really make his skills shine.

Jim's Character Traits

Jim sports his default magnum pistol and orange jacket in Back 4 Blood

Before we get to deck building, it's important to get acquainted with the man himself. An ex-military man and Finleyville native, Jim is a hunter in all senses of the word: his goals are to protect his team, smite enemies from a distance, and stay alert for nearby trouble.

Jim is equipped with the following permanent character traits:

  • Clean Kill: Aim down your sights for those precise kills to gain a two-and-a-half percent stackable damage buff that is only removed when Jim takes damage.
  • Seasoned Hunter: Ten percent extra damage to enemy weakspots for the whole team.
  • Military Training: 25 percent extra reload speed, useful for reloading those small-round snipers and magnums.
  • Razor Snare: Start off with a razor wire in your inventory.

While his sniping-focused talents might not be the best choice for fans of melee combat or solo players (if you're using the game's offline mode), he is a vital part of any squad-based offensive mission. His passive traits can provide much-needed backup when it comes to clearing distant foes, which will be a lifesaver in the later stages of your run.

Best Card Build For Jim

While playing as Jim, it's important to consider cards that not only bolster his existing skills, but tend to his weaknesses too. You can try swapping out his magnum for a melee weapon in case of a close encounter with the Ridden, since his standard guns aren't great for point-and-spray tactics, but it's easier to equip a combat knife and turn your punch into a close-range stabbing attack.

Here are ten cards to consider adding to your Jim deck:

Hi Vis Sights

Confident Killer

Durable

Hydration Pack

Superior Cardio

Defensive Maneuver

Run Like Hell

Reload Drills

Front Sight Focus

Ammo Belt

How To Choose The Best Cards For Jim In Back 4 Blood

Cards such as Front Sight Focus and Hi Vis Stats will complement Jim's existing skill for aiming down his sights, increasing your laser-sharp focus by up 50 percent. Make the most of these by occupying any available higher ground, picking off the Ridden methodically, and going for ones the furthest away from your team.

If you do take damage and end up losing your damage stacks, Defensive Maneuver will ensure that you're well protected as you get rid of the immediate threat and head back to a safe vantage point. Run Like Hell should help you get enough wind beneath your heels to speed away quickly before this happens, however, and it's worth remembering that the card deactivates for three seconds after taking damage.

Finally, Confident Killer is a super powerful card for Jim. It grants you an additional one percent stacking damage buff when you kill a Mutation (or Special Infected) that will add to your existing stacks granted by the Clean Kill trait.

Pair this with Reload Drills to increase the effectiveness of your Military Training trait, and you have a deck that is fully stacked to take on the Ridden.
