Backpack Kid, who claims to have invented The Floss, is the latest in a line of people to bring a lawsuit against Fortnite for using his dance moves without permission.

Fortnite is pretty much everywhere right now, and one of the main aspects of the game that has made it off of our screens and into our lives is its dances. The Floss, Electro Shuffle, even The Worm. All dance moves that have become emotes down on Fortnite Island.

So where is Epic Games, the developers behind Fortnite, getting the inspiration for all these dance moves? Well, some of them are pretty obvious. People have been doing The Worm for decades. However, others aren't so well known and have actually been popularized by the game itself. Take The L, for example. We hardly think Antoine Griezmann would have celebrated a goal with that dance during the World Cup final this year if he wasn't a big Fortnite fan.

While the above dance moves aren't so easy to trace back to their source, others are. The Floss, arguably Fortnite's most popular and well-known dance, was apparently created by Russell Horning, better known as Backpack Kid. Horning originally posted videos of himself performing The Floss on Instagram and was eventually invited onto TV shows to do it live.

As it turns out, Horning is not happy Fortnite has stolen his moves, as reported by Polygon. The inventor of The Floss has become the third person this month to take legal action against Epic for using a dance without permission. Alfonso Ribiero, aka Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, and rapper 2 Milly are also in the midst of suing Fortnite for using dances that they claim to have created.

Of the three parties currently suing Epic, all of whom are represented by the same legal team, Horning might have the hardest time emerging victorious. That's because just six months ago, he actually took part in an official Fortnite-sanctioned event. While in attendance, he was asked by TMZ whether he thought he should get anything for The Floss appearing in Fortnite. He replied, “it’s not that big of a deal, I’m just glad it’s in the game.”
