The latest patch for Baldur's Gate 3 is live and it brings a number of changes to the game, including friendlier party members, an easier time passing important dice rolls, and weaker Cantrips.

Baldur's Gate 3 is in Early Access and there's no denying that it's currently in an extremely buggy state. Developer Larian Studios has been releasing hotfixes and patches over the past two months, and the quality of the game has slowly improved. The latest patch is the first to alter the story of the game, but you can't use your old saves with the new content.

The new patch for Baldur's Gate 3 is available now and it brings a number of changes to the game. Larian founder Swen Vincke discussed the changes in a new community update video. He wasn't wearing his trademark suit of armor, possibly because it's at the dry cleaners? The biggest update in the patch involves the party members. The fans complained about them being too negative and nitpicky toward the protagonist, so they're now more positive overall.

The patch also includes some smaller updates. There are a number of skill rolls in Baldur's Gate 3 that can drastically alter the story if you fail the check. These rolls have been made easier to pass. The game will now provide experience points for solving problems without resorting to violence. This includes resolving the Goblin Camp quest without going on a murder spree. You can now command all of your party members to jump one at a time without needing to control them manually. Your party can now take two short rests per long rest. Three of the Cantrips (Acid Splash, Fire Bolt, and Ray of Frost) no longer create elemental surfaces when cast, as it made them overpowered. The UI has been improved and it's possible to see/use Inspiration Points. The UI also makes it easier to cast higher-level versions of low-level spells. Cross-save functionality is now active between the Google Stadia, GOG, and Steam versions of the game.

It's going to be a while before Baldur's Gate 3 is released in a finished state, but it's clear that Larian is hard at work on the game and taking the fan feedback to heart. We can't wait to see how the game improves in the future.
