Steamforged Games recently announced the addition of three Guest Writers to its Bardsung boardgame team just days ahead of the game’s impending Kickstarter launch. These three new writers are the first Bardsung guest stars to be added to the team, with more expected to be announced in the future. Probably in the not-too-distant future, as the Bardsung Board Game Kickstarter is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2020.

ICYMI, Bardsung is an upcoming Steamforged Games fantasy board game initially announced this past October. Steamforged has so far kept details about the game to themselves, only publishing a short video trailer, and posting some rather nice photos of the game, with scant little info, on its website. However, it's expected that much more info will be revealed with the Kickstarter launch.

The first new Bardsung Guest Writer is Sara Thompson, creator of the excellent Combat Wheelchair for use with the fifth edition of the world’s most popular tabletop roleplaying game. Thompson is also a writer and staunch advocate “for disability representation in tabletop roleplaying games”, worked on The Witcher (by R.Talsorian Games), and Castle Falkenstein. One of their latest and highly popular projects involved working with Russ Charles and Tom Lishman (Bardsung and Steamforged Games sculptors, respectively) to create the wonderful Combat Wheelchair miniature.

Rhianna Pratchett (yes, the daughter of famed Discworld author Sir Terry Pratchett) is the second new Bardsung Guest Writer. Pratchett has a quickly-growing list of impressive writing credits that include DC and Dark Horse comics, Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider video games, and various other film and television productions. Pratchett recently penned the Fighting Fantasy novel Crystal of Storms to become “the first female author in Fighting Fantasy history!”

And lastly but not leastly, the third new Bardsung Guest Writer is none other than the illustrious Ian Livingstone CBE. A fabled name in the world of roleplaying since the 1970’s, Livingstone is a co-founder of Games Workshop, co-founder of the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks series (with Stave Jackson), and was the Executive Chairman and Life President of Eidos Interactive during the 2000’s.

Steamforged only gives a hint at what each Guest Writer will be writing for the upcoming Bardsung project, saying that more details will be forthcoming once the Kickstarter goes live. What has been made known is that all three will be writing adventures for the game, with Pratchett also assisting in writing the game’s campaign storyline.
