Sectors & Clusters

Sectors are portion of the map that your team must control to earn points and win the battles, while Clusters are more dynamic skirmishes that pop up around objectives, and these could be tiny points to control, or huge areas.

These will be the main areas where battles will be happening, and Sectors always appear in the same place, so once you become familiar with the map, you'll know where to go to find a fight. By checking the map, you'll also be aware of which sectors have active fighting happening, and which sectors are completely controller by either your forces, or the enemies. Using this information, you can guess which parts of the map you can expect enemies to approach from, and where to watch with your weapon ready.

No Walls, No Limits

Walls are annoying and unnecessary - or at least that's true in Battlefield. Here in 2042, you can once again destroy walls and buildings that are in your way. Grenades, vehicles, and heavy artillery all have the potential to blast through walls so you can open up a shortcut and expose any enemies hiding inside.

Wacky Weather

Battlefield Portal introduces Arica Harbor to Battlefield 2042.

The weather in previous Battlefield games could be intense, but this will truly change the way you play the game. Weather conditions can change rapidly, introducing rain which makes it harder to spot enemies at a distance, gusts of wind, and even tornadoes.

When the weather kicks up, get ready for the nature of the battle to change, especially for those attempting to ride around in helicopters. You can use the storms as cover to make a move towards enemies, or just the chaos to your advantage and let loose your bullets while being significantly less noticeable.

Explosives Are Your Friend

No matter which class you pick, you should always be bringing some heavy explosives into the Conquest game mode. Vehicles like helicopters and jets are a common sight, as are tanks are trucks - it's difficult to shoot enemies out of the driver's seat in many of these, so you're better off using explosives. Many smaller vehicles will blow with just a grenade, but bigger vehicles require much more effort.

Helicopters will be tough to get without missile launchers that lock-on, while tanks and armoured vehicles could really use a standard rocket launcher - or several - to cut them down to size.
