This guide will go over Irish's role, how the Fortification System gadget works, and we'll provide some tips on how to best use Irish.

Irish is a Support specialist, although his gadgets make him act much closer to an Engineer/Support hybrid. The Fortification System allows Irish to create a durable piece of cover at any time, protecting him and nearby allies from incoming damage. Alternatively, you can create a trophy system instead, intercepting enemy explosives before they detonate. This makes Irish a fantastic specialist for defending objectives on Conquest and Breakthrough.
Weapon Proficiencies
Support specialists are proficient with SMGs, increasing their draw time.
Since Irish is a Support specialist, he has access to Defibrillators at all times. Defibrillators may be used to revive any downed teammates, not just squadmates. Reviving allies will also replenish their gadget uses through Irish's Cache Point passive, making him a fantastic frontline character. Pair this with Irish's secondary gadgets—your choice of a Smoke Grenade Launcher, Medical Crate, Ammo Crate, and Claymores—and you have one of 2042's most versatile specialists.

Fortification System
Similar to Angel, Irish's Specialist gadget is actually two gadgets wrapped into one package. You can hold up to two charges of Fortification System at a time, each charge having a lengthy cooldown. You cannot place either gadget on vehicles.
- DC-2 Deployable Cover: Deploy a durable piece of cover in front of Irish.
- APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel: Deploy a trophy system that intercepts enemy explosives.
The DC-2 Deployable Cover gadget does exactly what you'd think. It creates a sizable piece of cover for you to hide behind. Standing behind it will cover most of your torso and lower body, making it harder for an enemy to hit you. Deployable Cover has an immense amount of health, capable of absorbing multiple explosions before it gets destroyed. This gadget lasts until destroyed.
Battlefield 2042: Breakthrough Guide
Master attacking and defending with this Breakthrough guide for Battlefield 2042.Known by most as a trophy system, the APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel destroys enemy explosives that are three meters from the gadget. This includes grenades, the Recoiless M5 rocket launcher, and even rockets fired from vehicles. Keep in mind that a three-meter radius is fairly small in 2042, so the enemy explosive will need to fly right above the gadget for consistent results. This gadget only destroys enemy ordnance, and explosives destroyed this way do not deal any AoE damage. Shootdown Sentinels last until they're destroyed by enemy gunfire. Irish can also recover trophy systems to regain uses of Fortification System.
Cache Point
Any ally you revive will replenish a portion of their gadget charges, assuming their gadget ammo isn't already full. Weapon ammo will not be refilled, so you will need to bring Ammo Crates or Ammo Pouches to refill their ammo in addition to gadget charges.
Tips And Tricks
- Use a sniper rifle with Irish. Deployable Cover allows you to snipe from more open environments and strange angles.
- Deploy trophy systems onto rooftops to help counter enemy helicopters and grenades.
- Deployable Cover can be deployed right before a vehicle hits you, stopping all vehicle momentum.
- Use trophy systems on Breakthrough to defend your team from enemy grenades and rockets.
