The Change.org petition demanding refunds on Battlefield 2042 continues to grow. Just yesterday the petition crossed 50,000 signatures, which is apparently enough for petition organizers to contact a lawyer and start a class-action lawsuit. Just a day later and that petition has already more than doubled to 120,000 signatures.

"EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD) due to EA’s false advertising," wrote petition organizer Setoshi Nakamoto. "Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide."

Battlefield 2042 has been facing stiff headwinds ever since releasing last year. Numerous bugs, balance issues, and missing features led many fans to consider Battlefield 2042 to be a half-finished game. Since then, players have been abandoning the game for other entries in the Battlefield series, with Steam reporting more players on both Battlefield V and Battlefield 1.

Steam is reportedly making exceptions to its refund policy to appease angry Battlefield 2042 players. Even EA is "very disappointed" in Battlefield 2042's performance and is considering making the game free-to-play.

To get Battlefield 2042 to a more complete state, DICE has shelved work on the Star Wars Battlefield series and delayed season one to later this summer. It's all-hands-on-deck now as DICE works to address missing legacy features, balance issues, and lingering bugs.

The Change.org petition makes it clear that “signing this petition is the equivalent of saying, ‘I wish I got a refund on this game.’” It also promises to begin legal proceedings against EA to recoup funds with the help of “one of the best class-action lawsuit lawyers in the country.”

The petition ends, “The gaming community should not tolerate this abuse and bullying from multi-billion dollar corporations who make unfinished games and false advertisements.”

There are 124,000 signatures as of the time of this writing.
