Battlefield 2042 was one of a handful of games to launch at the end of 2021 that didn't exactly get off to a flying start. So much so that it wound up being one of the worst-reviewed games of the year, and before long its player count on Steam dropped way below that of Battlefield 5. In fact, people were fleeing from 2042 at such a rate that before long, its concurrent player count had dropped to around the same as Battlefield 1.

Despite EA appearing to have already thrown in the towel, DICE continues to try and fix Battlefield 2042 and bring back those who have left the game, and hopefully an influx of new players too. That effort has been furthered today by the rollout of the 3.3 patch. A long-awaited update because it finally brings with it Battlefield's new scoreboard, something players have been bugging DICE for since the game launched.

The update should be live now, and the even better news is that DICE will continue to improve the scoreboard over time. “This is the first version of the Scoreboard, and further improvements will be made to this in subsequent updates, based upon your continued feedback," the 3.3 patch notes read. The update also brings with it the Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle, a reward promised to certain players for previous issues with the game.

DICE previously pushed back the start of Battlefield 2042's first season to the summer. Not great for a game that will be approaching its first anniversary at this point. That meant buying more expensive versions of Battlefield 2042 was rendered far less worth the money, and the bundle was promised to those players in an attempt to make up for that. The Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle includes the Zero Resistance Skin for Mackay, the Grasshopper Weapon Skin for the K30, the Rapid Hammer Weapon Skin for the M44, the Iron Chariot Vehicle Skin for the M5C Bolte, the Rib Tickler Melee Weapon Skin, the Resolute Player Card Background, and the Steadfast Player Card Icon.

The Battlefield updates are far from over, and DICE has also outlined in the 3.3 patch notes that the next one will be rolled out about a month from now. That update will bring with it VOIP functionality for Squads, and balancing for weapons on vehicles. As touched upon above, the game's first season won't begin until the summer. No exact date for the start of season one has been given.
